Hi all. I'm finally caught up on this thread. Only took two or three days!!

I have to agree with SeanW521 - this thread convinced me to apply to IRT. I'm thoroughly impressed with what I've read here. Thanks to Tanker_82, Redtwin, and the others who have contributed for so long! It's invaluable.

I sent my application in a few days ago and haven't heard back yet. Nothing on Driver Pulse either. I tried calling my recruiter today but didn't get an answer, so I left a message. I'll try again tomorrow, and maybe I'll send in a message through Pulse. I live in Central Floirda, about 90 minutes from the Winter Haven terminal. I'd like OTR but I'm open-minded.

I'm coming from pulling reefer for the last 2.5 years since I got my CDL. I'm excited for something different.

I'm also in the application process with Crete Carrier. Last I heard today, my recruiter sent my application package to Safety for review. I have a few incidents and a preventable, non-DOT-reportable accident on my record (happened over a year ago). Hoping none of that is enough to get declined from either company. Both are great companies it seems, and I'll probably go with whoever extends an offer first. I'm hoping my IRT recruiter can get the ball rolling though - I think I'd like tanker more than dryvan. That and not being micromanaged, that alone is worth it's weight in gold.

I'll keep ya'll informed if I get an offer from IRT.

I’m glad to hear things have worked out and you’re happy with making the switch to IRT. I appreciate the kind words. I probably should have taken you up on the referral offer and booked myself a trip to Vegas or somewhere. (chuckling) On a serious note, as I’ve gotten older and gained more time at the company, I’ve came to believe that would taint the honesty of the thread. If a person were to come aboard and end up being unhappy, I wouldn’t want them to feel like they were persuaded to apply just so I could cash in on a referral bonus. I figure the easiest way to prevent that is to refrain from putting myself in a position where I profit from their employment decision. I have been listed as a referral in the past, but I only do that now if they are people I meet in person - outside of this thread. I think I’ve been a referral twice or maybe three times over the years I’ve been with IRT. One was a driver who I worked with at my previous company. One was a man I met at Danny’s Tank Wash in Arizona several years ago. I think the third was someone who messaged me on here but ended up not coming aboard a few years ago.

I hope things keep going well for you. Not being micromanaged is the best thing in my book.

I live nearly 3 hrs from Winter Haven. I drive my car up and park it in the employee parking lot.

I'm an OTR driver and can be dispatched to all 48 states and Canada, but by choice I stick to the East Coast. The company accomodates my preference but if there is a load going to the West Coast and I am the only one available then that's where they are sending me. They usually ask if I want to go west before dispatching though.

What they have done in the past is have me run a load west and repower it before I get too far into the Central Time zone.

What's the opinion about that flag on company property...

This flag evokes mixed opinions. While some associate it with Southern pride, others connect it to racism. However, it’s essential to recognize that not everyone views it the same way. For some, it symbolizes a notorious racial cult like the KKK. Ultimately, it’s up to individual company to decide how they handle its presence on their property.

I agree... With some of the interactions I've had with other drivers in this company at this point I don't even know, it is hard to defend the person in that truck considering the history of that symbol and the obvious reasons you pointed out.. im from the "south" also but haven't seen anyone flying the Confederate flag and proudly for a long time

If the company had an issue with it they would have removed it or told the driver to.

It's central Florida though. Confederate battle flags/decals/paraphernalia are pretty commonplace.

Welp looks like my colored behind is going to throw up a confederate flag license plate with a Palestine one and a pray for Ukraine sticker to see how far I can get with it if they don't care about just the Confederate license plate lol

If you put anything on the truck they don't like they will just remove it.

I avoid anything political, not so much because of the company, but you never know what kind of nut job you are rolling past on the road or parking next to at the truck stop that will take exception to it.

It's nothing more than self expression. Covered under the First Amendment.

If he dropped a hard "r" on you, that would be different. But that driver is good people. He isn't hurting anyone.

What ever happened to staying in your lane and minding your own business?
