how do you make Prepass go undetected?

How can I keep Prepass from being detected when I go by a closed weigh station? I Velcro'd it to make it easy to pull off in a hurry and then reattach to the windshield. Problem is, the thing beeps and lights up no matter where I put it---sure wish my phone was that good at grabbing a signal!---I'm starting to think it'll take something like a lead blanket to shut the little bugger up.

They needed to be stuck to the windshield before in order to work and they were pretty fussy about you being right under the detector, if you were in the wrong lane of two it wouldn't always work, now it seems like they catch it pretty easily, I'd try putting it in a metal toolbox or fishing tackle box on the floor and closing the lid. If that doesn't work, you could try sitting on it, like mikroos5 suggested, but I'd be worried about it breaking. I also don't have one anymore; I don't really miss it. You can also do like the old days and take a different road, no scale or one without Pre-pass.

First of all, if it 'goes off,' that means it was 'blasted' by the scale transmitter! But the power transmitted from the Prepass transponder in your truck is relatively weak (small battery inside)! So it can go off, but if covered, it wont 'be seen!' Best methods that work for me (no blast/no response!): 1) velcro it to windshield, then sit on it going thru, 2) velcro it (or if desparate, rip it off the tape), and put under your Qcom keybd (PCB inside will shield the transponder!!). Tin foil also works, but do you have time to do?? I suggest doing at least one of these things going thru OR...then dont use the Prepass system, but use the transponder for their 'Green & Go.' They will pull up a computer report of your scale crossings and can write a ticket for speeding then & there----remember, they're NOT Prepass (which wont allow such stuff)!!

I am serious here, I don't know why!
Why do you want to hide the pre-pass box from the scale houses?

But how would the pre-pass machine give the officer any information to the DOT officer if they got pulled in the scale? That is what confuses me, I thought maybe it had something to do with the log book, and I doubt I get the answer, but I am trying:biggrin:

Everytime you cross a scale, the truck ID is read and correlated with the truck history as stored in the system. If your co. has a poor safety record, they will 'Red Light' you and bring you in to scrutinize your truck! Per the Prepass brochure, their data cannot be used against a driver for infractions, etc. However, as mentioned previously, OR does not honor Prepass---they have their own system called 'Green & Go,' and still use the prepass transponder to feed scale crossing info into their state DOT computers. They will give a truck a ticket for going to fast between scales!! NOT Prepass Kosher! I drive CA & OR quite a bit---usually get 'Green' light in CA, NEVER get a 'green' light in OR. They want additional $$$ for their 'Green & Go' system above and beyond what co.s pay for Prepass!! Pretty CS!!
Dont like driving OR, or WA State for that matter!!
