It's been busy...but that's a good thing. Went to Lubbock twice this week plus some local hauling in between. Just completed the class for concealed carry today, so I'm looking forward to that as well.

Hello ALL,
Hopefully I won't get the boot now that I am no loonger a hopper hauler but the fact is that this thread feels like home. Currently under a dry van but will be getting a reefer tomorrow night which will be my "permanent" trailer. So far the start with this new gig is doing well. Bobtailed over the Leitchfiled KY to get paperwork done and then up to Louisville to get the trailer, then over to Owensboro for my Start-up load. Took that to Dallas then grabed a load back for Louisville. Now the down load was supposed to deliver at 04:00 on the 9th with the re-load at 21:30 that night.
I delivered at 21:30 on the 8th and sweet talked my way into a re-load at 01:00 on the 9th.
With the plans to deliver today I hot-footed it to Louisville and tried to deliver at 10:00 today thinking I could take a leisurely stroll down to FL to deliver on the 13th at 06:00 but Kroger is staunch about appt times so I'm hanging out till 17:00 tommorow.
Ah well its not like I am not used to sitting
. I mentioned the problems I found with the boost sensor and havig the motor turned up. All I can say is Woo!Hoo!
This ol' cornfield Caddy will stroll right along now. Hahahaha..
I have a new toy and just had to get the itch out of my system. So yesterday coming back from Dallas I hooked up with an RGN that was DH'ing back to KY.. I had a blast running with him knowing I was dragging 80k and aside from a couple of hills never lagged back from him... Since I must plead the 5th I will only say that the number 8 was in there on the ol speedo most of the time.I'm sure my mpg's will reflect it but it was fun and I needed to get it out of my system. As they say Boys and their toys.........LOL
With that behind me now its time to make some money. I already miss the hoppers and the comradery(sp) of the hoppers on the road but I think this will be a good move for me at present. I haven;t run the numbers yet to see if its what I want to do but this place has said they could set me up with a dedicated run from KY to TX and back if I should decide its what I want to do. It would be great for my home time as it would put me through the "Pebble" almost every day. For now I am goinng to see how the reefers do for me since I am in "Tomato Mashing" mode after the hit I have been taking on the pocket while with "E".
HwyPilot, RW. and wheathauler Thank this. -
thats a rough little stretch of blacktop,i have the leaking seals to prove it
,you were in my ''stomping ground'' thats for sure. Are you going to be running through there a lot now? I'll be looking for ya.
Sounds like you have the 'ol N14 ''pounding the ground'' though,be careful on I65 from E-town to Louisville, dang DOT's are crawling all over I65 after that bad wreck south of Franklin.
Good luck with the new ''gig'' and maybe now you can get that horse for your round pen at home -
isn;t typical of my running. I tend to be like that food cooker they have on TV.... "Set-It and Forget-It" LOL
I really am not sure of where I am going to be. Right now theres talk of making a run to Yakima with plants and bringing back apples. So who knows. For now its a matter of running whatever brings the coins home.Once I get some change built back up and settled in where I am, if the dedicated will pay well enough I will probably do that so I'll be back and forth B'tween KY and TX regularly. I haven;t decided if its better to go 40 to 65 and up or take 55 to the pkwy over to Louisville. Open to suggestions on that run.
dairyman Thanks this. -
,plus, thats a good stretch of road, not as many pot-holes compared to the pkwy
-
Either one puts me through the Pebble but if I take the dedicated it looks like I'll be runing owensboro to dallas down 55 then back up through the guitar to louisville for the return trip.

Hauled for seed company today. The wheat is really growing around here and could use some moisture. I haven't hauled as much wheat for this time of year...might have something to do with low prices on the wheat.
