Thank you, your answers do help. Landspan is looking better and better. But... More questions.

Do you have to go into Canada?
Is there a wait list or something for the volvos?
Do they allow inverters on the trucks?
Oh, and didn't I read starting pay .35? The website states .42 to .44 and I didn't see a mention of hazmat.

    Thanks again

Oh good now I get to answer a few questions. As a team I love prime. No forced dispatch, no fuel routings, no hassels. We have a decent fm. We probably average $1500 per week. They almost always get us home when requested(we only live 2 miles from a wm dc that prime delivers to, and less then 200 miles from Springfield). So, why do we want to leave? We can't afford to go home. Our expenses are too high $869 per week trk payment, road taxes, well prime pays for nothing. Our weekly expenses are around $1600 (including medical insurance). So, everytime we go home, we end up in the hole, it takes 2 to 3 weeks to make another decent paycheck, putting us behind on out bills.
Teams can make it at prime, if you don't want to go home. I wanna visit my grandkids once in awhile.

Sorry so long winded. Hope this helps.

    Betterroad,
    NO
    Canada! :)

Here's the deal on the Volvos... It's a 50/50 chance you'll get one straight out of orientation. If you get a Columbia then sometime down the road you may get into a Volvo. They say they reserve them for the senior drivers. All the Volvos have an APU & inverter already installed. Columbias can have your inverter installed, but be sure you bring your own #4 cables w/ fuses. They do not provide this, only install them. Also remember if in a Columbia, they will pay $2/hr in CA for not idling.

    The pay...
It is around .35 split w/o Hazmat. WITH Hazmat is .42 - .44 split.

    Hometime...
Like CB said it depends where you live on how long you have to stay out for. Usually no longer than 3 weeks. Also once HT is approved they have 48 hrs w/in your HT date to get you home. If not, they pay you extra per day that you aren't home. :)

Let me know if I missed anything!
    :) :) :)

    you got everything.

the only thing I want to clarify is the idle pay. You have to NOT idle your truck for 6 hours before they start paying the no idle pay in cali. so if you have your truck off for 7 hours. you get $2. and if you start the truck or move or anything. you have to wait another 6 hours before the idle pay kicks in. ALso, if truck is going into shop, call your DM and let them know. The few times that we didn't idle for over 6 hours or more, we have never gotten paid on it. I am not going to complain about $2 (im seeing Better off Dead in my head now).

let us know if you have more questions :D

and since I have been sick this past week, they haven't been pushing us too hard mileage wise. I don't know if that is because freight is slow or they are letting me get my strength back. I'm just going to lie to myself :D

I hope you are starting to feel better. Being sick, in a truck is awful.

Thanks for all the helpful answers. We are seriously considering applying when we get home (waiting for grandson to be born before going home).

    Thx again

My husband and I worked for Landspan. They are possibly the worst company 2 work for. They do not care about their drivers let alone their equipment. Be prepared 2 sit 3-5 days after each load. We scheduled home time for Dr. appts thinking our insurance cards would be in the mail at home waiting for us. The benefits dept never put our info into the computer so we didn't have medical insurance when we needed it. I had a mammo scheduled and had 2 cancel it because Aetna didn't have us in their computer. When I spoke 2 the benefits dept, their response was that I could pay for the mammo out of pocket & be reimbursed for the expense by Aetna. I don't think so!! We had problems with our truck from day 1 and all they want 2 do is patch work for any problem. They do not want 2 put out money for repairs. I have been driving for 9 years and haven't had an accident or ticket because safety has 2b top priority. U shouldn't have 2 beg for permission 2 get your truck 2 D.O.T. standards. Good luck getting back that $500.00 deposit when you realize u made a huge mistake signing on with Landspan. Didn't mean 2 go on & on, but I thought u should know! Good Luck...:biggrin_255:

We worked for them last year. I've heard that once upon a time they were a good company. That obviously hasn't been the case for several years. We are thinkin about Interstate Dist. Do u know anything about them? Appreciate it.:biggrin_25514:

Interstate used to be a good company as well.. I would do more research on them... sorry you had a bad experience with LS. So far we are still happy here.

Not sure what to tell you about Interstate as it has been awhile since we have worked for them. So maybe there is newer info out for them. Good luck.

I was checking into interstate. But I heard no layover or break down pay. $1000 pet deposit. But when I heard that they stopped paying detention pay, I stopped checking on them. And I think the vacation pay is $300.

Can u tell me how much the LS vacation pay is?
