i have not started yet.but yes they do pay for fuel on new trucks. the long runs going to canada they help pay for plane tickets . according to a driver i spoke to on the phone. in order to take long runs you can not expect to be home every 2 days. i am still wondering if i should go with tm.

To make money working for TM/Unimark one has to live out of the delivery truck, steal fuel-food and hitch hike across the country (or ride the rails like a hobo). A poor proposition in my book.Kimono_skunk Thanks this. -

As a few of you might know, I have quit from Truckmovers after being VERY dissatisfied with the work and the pay.
I had to visit the doc on friday morning, due to a knee injury I sustained, (NOT TM Related...) and after the exam, I attempted to call TM but didn't get Chuck, as he was on a three-way call.
I then returned home, and got on my Email, and Kyle had emailed me with offers, but I notified TM I was unhappy with TM, and I will return all my equipment to Ohio, and plates I will AirMail back to Kansas City.
I basically told them I felt I could not make any money with TM, since I was mainly in the NE region. And going over my loads confirmed I would continue losing money with TM and their used trucks.
Kyle said he will notify Chuck, and Chuck emailed me back, telling me to deliver the hitches and tow-bars to Iron Tiger Logistics, at the Mack plant in Macungie, Pa.
Early yesterday morning I met Mike, Operations asst manager at Iron Tiger, and dropped off all the equipment at his storage area. While we were unloading my Explorer, we were chatting at the pay rate at ITL.
He was offering me .52, .53, and .54 CPM for driving the New trucks, set up for boom towing, paid for doubles, triples and 4 trucks.
I asked him about Toads, and he said that they just move the new trucks, and fly you back to the depot at Macungie. All fuel is provided, but I didn't ask about tolls.
I did not mention my bad experiences at TM, just to be respectful. Mike was great to talk with, and very pleasant. My wife and daughter were in the Explorer and he greeted them both with smiles all around. He asked what I was going to do, and I replied that I had found 2 local driver jobs here paying 18.00-22.00 an hour driving either tri axle dumps or box trucks.
Mike said that if I ever considered wirking delivering trucks at a good rate with benefits, he said for me to give him a call, and he would get me in.
We parted ways with a handshake and I would call him later, if the need arises.
Will keep everyone posted on what happens next.

By 'enforcer' I mean someone who is passed off as a 'fellow employee' and is anything but. His/her job is to quell dissention and intimidate the troublemakers (unionists and/or IBT supporters). Their main purpose is to try to present a 'unified front' of 'fellow employees' who don't want union representation but will stick with the IAM for the moment. They aren't hard to spot as the 'patterns' are obvious.
JHT's obvious goal is to get rid of professional representation of its employees and turn the whole operation into a 'swift-jb hunt-schneider' at best, or a TM/Unimark at worst. This entire segment of driveaway was IBT represented before JBT Holdings came into play. The old timers (the legitimate ones!) will tell you the crap that goes on now was unheard of under Teamster representation.
To someone who doesn't know better, ITG may 'sound good' but to those of us who have been around driveaway for awhile know that ITG is just another step backwards in pay, benefits, work rules, your future, etc. -
Oh I know, I will not be going to ITL or Truckmovers or anything, I just scored an IC job delivering to hospitals (5 stops) where I will land about $650 a week, easy work, no paying for fuel or tolls, no drama, no dispatched to Erie for 2 trucks that take more pay for me to get there, pay for fuel and drive back.

Home every day and was the longest held job to date. I left after 11 years because wages were largely frozen when I started (high inflation period) due to the Union being voted out 6 months before my hire date. A complete turnover in 'demographics' didn't help either.
The resulting 11 years saw our buying power literally reduced to poverty levels - the union vote was a sham as most of the people behind it were moved into management or into created 'cush jobs' as a reward. Most everyone else quit and the turnover went through the roof and stayed there the whole time I was there. Easy job otherwise and 'educational'.
Contributed to my being a strong Unionist today.

I wouldn't recommend that anyone get involved with driveaway at the moment with the JHT Holdings hammerlock on the entire industry and the resulting shennigans. Looks like a monopoly that needs to be broken up by the Feds with the IBT restored as the employee's professional representative of choice. -
Is this really a way to make money? i've heard that driveaway is just for people to have a vacation for free. I've thought about it before and it seemed like a neat job, but ...I wouldnt wanna work for free!

Non unionized driveaway is mostly made up of retired folks, those who have been lied to thinking they'll 'get rich' and those with employment, and often legal issues.
I don't recommend this field to anyone at the moment due to the entire industry being dominated by one group (JHT Holdings) and the non stop 'scams' being run on employees, contractors and suppliers. -
is really the big boy. they run all navistar logistics. how can a person be sucessful at drive away . there has to be away if there are so many trucks to be moved. they pay for half the fuel and all on the new trucks. please explain to me why drivers can not make money at this if they take the miles given to them and not a lazy person who complains about everything. the hell with the union they have wrecked so many industries. i want real feedback and not biased union crap.
