Exactly right. And to add. Most time we slower country folk even if getting there first or on the right. Let the one who blasted full speed up to the intersection go first if we are going to be going the same direction so that speed racer wont be bumper humping us to our destination. . Lol.

Behind me comes this impatient twenty something female. She isn't behind more than two seconds when she honks. Mind you, traffic has yet to clear. Super Narcissist Woman then proceeds to go around me and complete her U turn nanoseconds after it's clear.
I'd be willing to bet she didn't look behind her when she went around me. Too bad no convenient cop saw her.Siinman, Sons Hero, Kyle G. and 1 other person Thank this. -

That's a super power I want to have.Kyle G., Star Rider and SmallPackage Thank this. -
He pulls her over, after a while of her not stopping, when she tells him that he has no right to pull her over and she doesn't have to do what he says because she does not know him.Concorde, Kyle G. and Flat Earth Trucker Thank this. -
Best solution is just don't stop at 4 way stop signs. Just blow on through like you know exactly what you're doing. Once the carnage stops, and the cop gets there, he can educate you. Either that, or the angry Karen in the clapped out minivan follows you to your destination and makes you a YouTube sensation

For this that really don't know right of way laws, they should not be in a truck.... or a car for that matter, I know most of you are just kidding around but holy crap I have seen semi's and cars do the stupidest crap at 4 way stops and think they were in the right. Everywhere I have been its the first person to stop, if it is a tie, the person to your right has right of way. The one that really pisses me off is the MN nice idiots, that feel they need to wave people through when it is their right of way, no worry about the car behind them waiting to go, or general right of way laws to begin with. How ever with my whining about right of way laws, if I am in my 4 wheeler, and you pause for a 1/4 second like you don't know what you are doing, I am blasting through that thing like I don't care

When I learned to drive, a LOT of things were different. EVERYTHING has changed since I learned to drive.
I'm in Louisiana.
My dad always told me the rule back then was; the car to the right has the right of way. But sometimes you have cars at all corners, then use the honor system. Who got there first (in order of arrival).
Over the years I have heard more opinions than I can count. Personally, I use the; who got there first (in order of arrival). If there is that mexican stand off, I usually wave the next person on.
Secondly, the legal thing is, just always remember, you cant over-take another persons lane. If you encroach on another persons lane (right of way), you are usually at fault if there is an accident. But at a 4way & everyone is going different direction or crossing each others lanes, it gets gray again. There is a rule for 4 way intersections but its usually a secondary rule.
What I mean is, there is no clear rules for 4 way intersections. No one rule will always work at 4 ways. So, if there is an accident, it usually falls back to a secondary rule on who did what wrong in another traffic law.
There's just no good answer to what's legally correct at 4 way stops. There are preliminary rules but they dont always work. So, while primary rules at 4 ways do apply, its normally a secondary rule that is going to determine who is at fault.
I try to be cautious, use the honor system of who got there first & attempt to proceed slowly until I see that others are giving me the right of way. Cause most really don't know what to do & others assume everyone else don't know what to do.Siinman, Flat Earth Trucker and SmallPackage Thank this. -
Lately I have been noticing people following the car in front of them through the intersection right on the rear bumper without stopping. Just saw that this week and more times than not it's an elderly driver. I guess when your time is short you don't have time for stop signs.
Siinman, SmallPackage and Kyle G. Thank this. -
People overthink things that just take a little common sense.
Sometimes I wonder if truck drivers can’t figure something like this, why are they driving.PaulMinternational, Siinman, RockinChair and 4 others Thank this.
