So you can do your own annual safety then.

And saying look it up means you are talking out of your ###. Please don’t do that.[/QUOTE]

Isn't that what you did in post 8402? I guess if the shoe fits,
At least in the quote here you answered even with a snark ending.

Hawaii is a racket on many levels. You have to have a current vehicle inspection to license your vehicle. But you fail the inspection without a current Hawaii registration. If you buy a new vehicle or ship one over from the mainland you have to pay for an inspection just to fail it so you can take the failed inspection in to get your plates so you can then go back and pay for another inspection so you pass and get your sticker.

Seems to me a license or certification is the same thing IOW a license is proof of a certification.

Splitting hairs like that doesn't help your argument. Do you drive with that attitude?

Yes, but I choose not to, mainly for liability reasons.

Up until having to get quarterly inspections where I’m leased on now I always just filled out my own. If you have a big enough screw up where they’re digging that deep into things it probably doesn’t matter who signed the inspection. Unless you just left the shop and something malfunctioned.

But that's his point - it's technically not legal. That said, getting certified to due annual inspections isn't hard or costly, just some hoops to jump through, but how many guys are going to do it?

There are no hoops. It’s literally one piece of paper that you print from the FMCSA website, also one other piece of paper to print if you want to do brakes.

Up until I leased on here in January copies of those two pages were in my driver file wherever I went saying I knew how to inspect a truck and I could work on brakes if I wanted.
