I believe that UPS Freight's Truckload division that has the Advance contract. I know nothing about that division, but UPS Freight is generally considered the best LTL job on the road by other LTL drivers at other LTL companies such as myself.. That's saying something..

Thanks for the reply, i was always under the impression that the truck load side has nothing to do with the ltl side. Does anyone know if this is true? They are always looking for drivers in kutztown, pa and I'm wondering if its a good deal. I think the ltl side is union and the truck load side isnt. Thanks for the help.

I'm a Con-way driver but follow all LTL so I can tell you that they're both affiliated with UPSF but you are correct about the affiliation.

Just my opinion, anything UPS Freight is good. Check out the LTL division if you can - unreal money..

Yeah, the TL an LTL are totally separate..The TL operate just like any other TL carrier..48 states..no Canada or NYC maybe Long Island..From what I've heard, the tl took over the transportation side of advance..Kutztown,Delaware Oh,Gastonia NC and Roanoke,Va..That Advance DC runs parts through out the northeast..I know a driver who works there..he said its an OK company but things were a whole lot better when it was Overnite.. pay top out at .42 i think..he also said,it a real nitemare trying to get a 53'trl with a sleeper into some of those Advance stores, hence a lot of accidents..That's probably why they're always hiring..

I just got hired by ups freight truckload yesterday in Lakeland,Florida. The job doesnt start until March 26th. They asked if I wanted to go to Kutztown to work until the middle of march. They said they would fly me in and put me up in a hotel and give me a food allowance. Lastly UPS Freight is the non-union side.

UPS Freight Truckload is Non-union. UPS Freight(LTL) is the old Overnite and is union. UPS Freight Truckload includes the former WDS division. Advance in Kutztown leased all there tractors off the company I work for leasing division until UPS Freight Truckload got the contract. Our dedicated division put a bid on the account(and lost to UPS freight Truckload). They are 3 year contracts.

We do go into NYC. My little part of the truckload division does at least four stops in the city, in Brooklyn, Queens and the Bronx, along with at least one stop that may qualify for the city but IMO is too far out to be called that.

Been with them for four months, and they have been treating me great. I run Truckload SSD and am home every weekend, with a few exceptions that have to do with me covering routes for another part of our division. Just started getting a lot of perks from the boss, since it seems like it might be a rare thing here to be a driver that wants to drive down the road.

Let me run as hard as I can legally, but don't really seem to complain to the drivers who take it easy. Great about allowing us to follow HOS and making safety related decisions about the weather and/or road conditions. Really comes down to the point where I hear all the complaints from drivers at other companies, and I can't relate at all to them.

Only complaints I have are with some of the corporate rules, that anyone in a big company will understand about. Also a bit of a problem getting repairs made on the trucks, but working out of a terminal that doesn't have a shop may have a lot to do with that. I hear that this stuff was a lot better back when it was Overnite, but it's nothing that I can't deal with.

I think you should get in with them if given the chance. Has to be one of the best driving jobs out there.

was at thomson, ga DC with schneider on the advance acct, the pay rate on my regular run i had would be 850.00 a weekwith ups, with schneider it was 1025.00 a week. mileage rate rate went up from 33 to 38 per mile but stop pay was cut almost in half. you only get 1600 to 1700 miles a week and 22 to 25 stops , driver unload with electric pallet jack, but the stores have returns so you bring back usually same number of pallets you leave with, you will work your ### off, however you wont have to wait to unload. the former advance auto drivers on this account all averaged 1500 to 1700 a week and some even higher. frankly it is a funny thing that with ups coming in they are paying less than schneider. a real rip-off for the work involved. but you can be home most nights and the stores are a pain to get into.

also everything is the drivers fault, the advance warehouse does no wrong, lol
