Just paid $4.60 for a half gallon of milk last night.. Normally I’ll go through 4 gallons a week just for myself, love the stuff! All accept Prairie Farms milk, always has a rotten taste to it.

Younger generations are into Nut-milk :)
Brought a couple loads of Oat milk to Idaho recently. Don’t know why they call it milk, like muscle milk..crap doesn’t need to be refrigerated. Stores put it in the cooler just to fool the idiots buying the stuff.

Had a waitress in Illinois guess where I grew up just because I ordered a large milk with dinner. Did some reading up on the subject after and I guess it’s a regional/ cultural thing..North East in particular.

In the South too . None of the old family dairy farms are operational here anymore . Theyre raising beef ,hay , corn and soybeans , occasionally you'll see some milo not often .

Those numbers from the 70s are misrepresntive in a"moo"ge way.dairies are much higher volume. Small farms have much larger setups. 400 girls is now 2500. Smaller farms are closing to get the Buyout and retire.

never seen a small family farm with 400 let alone 2500 . You'd need 3or 400 acres of corn for silage for 400 gals milking . I digress new 1's do a mixed ration now .

We just ran around 600 acres of milo the last 2 months for the co-op. It was in demand this year.

The are no longer small dairy farm except a few. The ones i loaded at had 2-5000 head. Milking around the clock. Many dont grow feed as that is a lot of space and water use
