The so called loyalty to brokers is not about running for half of what other brokers pay. Money must be right all the time. At some point, they would say that they lost their account with a shipper or that they're unable to pay as much because the shipper would not want to pay them as much either. These might be lies or true excuses but that's when you understand there is no much room for loyalty. if you must be loyal, be loyal to your wife.

There is only a handful of brokers( at most a dozen, majority of broker work is for about 3) I work with. I stay busy enough that I’m not looking to add any.

99 percent of spot freight hauled by me was from posting my truck. Generally speaking, who calls who on the boards can have a significant impact on how much a carrier makes.

I learned quickly that when my phone rang the person on the other end was serious about getting the freight loaded. Of course, there were the TQL low ball calls but that was usually when posted in dead or low paying areas.

Anyone running the boards is crazy to not post their truck IMO. It's a great way to scout out new honey pots too. Post the truck and if the phone don't ring you know it's a bad area. Move on to another one until you find a spot that's blowing your phone up and go from there.

I posted my truck once and my phone blew up with offers of GARBAGE! Haven’t done it since.

The few times I had posted it was all trash. I would put parameters in the comments section and they would ignore. They’d call with some trash load going to BFE Maine or Montana. I mean I already know that they are not in a position to negotiate if I wanted those loads. Or they would call with a low paying lumber or shingle load.

I fubar’d up this week, reloaded at my last stop in Plattsburgh NY headed to Chicago, truckload, didn’t pay that great but been itching to take a ride options A and B fell apart so went to board and nothing but garbage back to PA, 40k loads for 18-$2000, ended up bouncing back to Ohio for $1500 for the barn, 6 pallets, have to do the math when I get back but I was $3.02 a mile in Chicago, sure the dead head won’t help but atleast I know I will be able to load Friday night now.

It's still a positive effort though. I got those too but I was happy to gleen that information. It told me to make sure not to drop in that area unless I got enough on the rate to get me to a better place OR just not run that market at all if it didn't pencil out. Not having such information can he very expensive if one doesn't know any better.
