Is there anyone currently working for Prime that can tell me the real deal? I was thinking of going to them as a company driver but may look into the lease at a later time. I would appreciate any info on company drivers and their lease program.

Anything particular you want to know? The "real deal" for me is I'm a company driver, make decent money, get good miles, saw all 48 states in a single year, and am very happy with the company. But I'm not really sure what you specifically want to know.
A quick word of caution. On the company side, you'll probably end up getting a smaller lightweight truck. No passenger seat, no top bunk, possibly no room to stand up in it, and limited storage. So if you are opposed to having a truck like that, you either need to lease or go with another company.lynryd Thanks this. -
I believe the real deal is currently flourishing in another thread!

I bet that is no fun in a little truck staying out 3 or 4 wks at a time!
and pulling a big heavy frozen load up n down some big hills!
Is everybody getting moved over to these trucks? -
Company solos and anyone who really wants to lease one are getting them. Has some value from a market share perspective - we can pull a lot more with them than the other guys...
Gotta say that I'm spoiled enough with my Century full condo that I really don't look forward to getting into one of the little guys... -
No I don't have one right now. Honestly, with the improving economy, my experience level increasing, and many other companies ramping up hiring willing to put me into a condo sleeper, if they force me into one it'll probably be the end of my relationship with Prime. Sucks, because I'm very happy with the company. But unlike IP, I do think they are extremely small. Heck, we already live in a small space. Living out on the road for 2 months or so at a time, I like to stand up to put my pants on.
I'm really afraid to leave Prime since I'm happy with everything else there, but the small truck just might be enough to get me to check out the grass somewhere else. I still have just over a year before that'll happen though. -
One quick question then I'll tell a little about my exp. with prime. Saw 3 prime trailers with skirts on them today on I-80 WY. Thought we were not going that route???.I've been with prime since feb. '09. Dam U2'S exp.post is what made me sign up for this sh^t. Should have never turned my comp. on that day.
Just yankin your chain U2.No but seriously, your the reason I'm getting divorced and hardly see my kids
.Ok I'll stop your post was true to the fact I knew what I was getting into before I got to spring.MO.KUDOS to you for keeping it real.my training went very well got along great, sure there was good and bad but mostly good.Alot of socal trips"love driving out there".Got home every 4-5wks for as much as 8-9 days a time mostly.Which is why I stayed with him till Mar. Of this year. Been leasing since and its going very well so far only prob. is the 65 mark.his truck was at 76 .It was there when we needed it.But I cant see quitting a job after only a little over a year because of 10 more mph.I'll wait and see how the job market is after 2yrs exp. Please do not preach about fuel mileage I'm the one paying for it and I'm not complaning about what mpg I'm getting ran trips in the 70's I know what can be expected.Other than that I really have nothing but good things to say about prime. The equipment and people are great. Thanks again U2, u s.o.b
