Sounds like few bad apples ruins it for the rest. Never been a union member so I don’t know how it goes. Just what I’ve heard from friends.

The first link is from the Federal Reserve, and offers just data with no interpretation.

The second is from Fourtune - center right. The opening line is from a market anyalyst at France's 3rd largest bank.

The final is from an academic who has worked with Marco Rubio.

But if you don't like any of these, simply look at the earnings report from Pepsi, Procter & Gamble, Home Depot, etc. Production costs are lower, wages are stable, profits are up.

They don't pay #### for being on strike though. At least the one I was part of anyways. The pay would have barely covered 3 meals and the gas to get to the yard.

    1) Sooner or later, the ports are going to become much more automated, probably with robots taking over a lot of the longshoremen's jobs. It is just a matter of time.
    2) If one thinks about it, a longshoreman's job is very physically demanding, often a backbreaking job.
    3) In the long run, automation could be an economic life saver for the port authorities, as well as not subjecting future generations of people to the physical demands of a longshoreman's job.

God bless every American and their families! God bless the U.S.A.!

The absolute sheer driving force of our national economy - without truck drivers, our entire national economy would come to an absolute standstill - if not outright be dead.

Over the mountains, through the woods, into the valleys, coast to coast, from sea to shining sea - truck drivers can and do go anywhere and everywhere, every day, every night, all year round.

I'm all for technology but at same time I believe tech that eliminates jobs is a double edged sword with long term consequences! Tech should ASSIST but NEVER EVER replace. The strength of any given country is its Middle Class with zero exceptions. And developing tech that replaces the human worker greatly will affect the middle class only, which in the long run will change the face of society in any country. Effectively becoming a 2 class society, rich and poor! So it's like opening Pandora's Box! The same applies to tech and A.I, careful for what one wishes for!

As mentioned in an earlier post, HOPEFULLY the unionized workers are putting aside emrgency money to weather the situations as strikes, layoffs, & terminations.
