I wish people would actually step back and think about what this is all about and how hard the work really is. Right now, there are fewer jobs for many new CDL holders, contrary to what is being said. The revolving door going so fast for so long has slowed down a lot. A lot of us hope it stops altogether, but it won't. This is a carrier's employment market and will be until maybe 2nd quarter 25.

Cats do not travel well, I know, I have a bunch and only one cat that I have is better to travel with than any of my dogs and she is well-behaved in anything I drive. I have a few horror stories about what I have seen and been told but this one happened in July. I have a driver who took her mom's cat along with her after her mom passed. While on the road under load, the cat escaped. She was off the road for 4 days trying to find the cat and when she did, it was hit by a vehicle and almost dead. Fortunately, this happened near a vet so It survived, I had another driver pick it up so the driver could get back to work, and is now vacationing with safety girl in the office, living a good life with her cats so don't be selfish.

Also, if you are worried about drug testing, then you need to get it together and stop completely because this is a highly stressful vocation, and it does require drug-free drivers. I hope that the FMCSA would mandate hair follicle testing, I don't know why people are so tolerant of this crap, but if you can't handle the little bit of stress in your life, believe me, you won't handle the road.

I should have included that I have already traveled on the road (and through the air) with these cats. When I moved to Oregon, I flew there and didn't have a car the entire time I was there. When it was time to come home, flight prices were up, and I realized I could buy a cheap used vehicle for about the same price. I did so, and made a two week trip out of it, driving down the 101, taking the time to explore anything that looked interesting. The cats did great; if they hadn't, I wouldn't have tortured them by not going straight home.

I feel little need to beat the dead horse when it comes to my prior weed use, but I've already stopped completely; it's a non issue.

Don't know how I presented myself as unable to handle stress. I used to design policy, supervise, and take escalated calls for 100 debt collectors, each of whom could have gotten the company sued 100+ times per day by mis-phrasing the simplest things. We were sued once because an agent was told "uh-huh" in response to a question, and he counted it as an affirmative. The judge disagreed. Though I will give you, trucking is probably one of the few industries where I'd be in even more constant danger of being sued.

Completing CDL school & not getting hired or not using a brand new CDL for years is becoming the most common post on TTR.

Don't go to CDL school & just assume there are jobs just waiting for you to pick, especially if you have anything on your Motor Vehicle Report MVR or criminal history, or recent job history. BTW you will need to document your work history for the last 3 years. You'll need to explain/document any gaps over 30 days long.

Very few poor people in China these days so they have plenty of money to splurge on pets.

The way China has lifted most of its population out of poverty is remarkable and couldn't have happened without genuine altruism. I respect China a lot.
