That's for the trailer. Truck is 26,000.
The Federal government requires a Class-A CDL to drive any combination of vehicles with a GVWR of 26,001 pounds or more. This includes a towed vehicle heavier than 10,000 pounds.

What happened to 8 of 10 hr break must be in sleeper? I thought that was part of the rule change when it went from 10 to ll driving and 8 to 10 break. Along with 14 hr. rule. Before the change, I always was told a straight 8 hr. off duty was acceptable. As far as I know the only charges that have been been made since the new 14 hr. rule, regards team drivers and off duty time allowed in passenger seat. Did I miss something? Always heard without sleeper time, a motel receipt is needed. I wonder what the LTL day cab road drivers or car haulers that stay in motels do to show rest periods on logs to DOT. Whether or not they need proof of a motel stay.

I’ll be the bigger man and say you dont know how to correctly fill out your log book and you dont know how to read.
Way back on page 1 of this thread (intended to help new driver log correctly) we had a driver saying he never logs “off duty” he always uses “sleeper berth” instead. That is intentional falsification of logs. Period.Rideandrepair Thanks this. -
Yeah, I was genuinely interested in this topic. My firat time ever touching a log sheet was just over 3 years ago, and I've just been wingin it since.
And 8 or 9 inspections later, my continuous off duty status has never been mentioned by DOT, though I did geta violation for not adding up my hours .
The hilarity here is you can tell a few posters are seriously upset. I've seen grade school kids act more mature.4wayflashers, Rideandrepair, Razororange and 4 others Thank this.
