    I gotta disagree here. In my first year I had a couple of minor incidents. After the first year I had no incidents. Been driving 7 years now and no incidents since the first year.

    YMMV. The story & background & his replies don't suggest to me anything has changed other than a looming lack of income. My experience with new & with young drivers is they aren't careful & impossible to coach until something dangerous wakes them up.

    The other incidents must've been serious. Companies are getting picky man. They're not as forgiving for mistakes. I had a couple of incidents my first year but that got glossed over. In those days, only a jack knife or rollover could keep you from working. Now you can't have any incidents.

    "High hooks" occur frequently and are typically the result of drivers not knowing or understanding the proper method to back under a trailer, often neglecting to GOAL. Skilled drivers are adept at judging the distance from their rear tractor tandems to the bottom of the trailer. I've often found myself running and waving my arms frantically to alert a driver who is about to collide his tractor with the rear of a trailer set too high. Such incidents can severely damage the fairings and the QC antenna. Damage to the APU AC condenser has also been observed in these situations.

    Interestingly, while the average driver spends over 99% of their time driving forward, it's the small fraction of time spent backing up that accounts for up to 90% of damage.

    This wasn’t “the one time” this was the third time in almost as many months. And I doubt they were the only time. Just the only time you screwed up bad enough to notify the company. It’s real out here and if you can’t pull your head out of your ### then please stay home.
