you can only do that with one of those mechanic computers that go on the obd reader. But most companies put a password on their trucks. So even if you spend the money for those things you won’t be able to tune it without the password.

hence why buying your own truck and tuning it to your liking is the answer.

remember, in the name of profit, which to be fair, it is diminishing more and more everyday. The companies see us as liabilities instead of assets. Now it is us the drivers that must adapt to these trucks. We are no longer driving the trucks, they are driving us. We are just overseeing them on the areas they are incapable of completing yet.

the self braking system has a lot of false positives so we’re always on edge while using cruise control. Extra bonus points when it’s icy out. The “safer” they become the more stress we get.

the future is a grim place. The robots are replacing us instead of aiding our productivity.

That's a dang shame. In fact, at some point that's probably what's going to make me retire from this industry.

A lot of you guys don't get it. Driver quality is so bad that either carriers use autonomous trucks as soon as they can or we ALL deal with more regulations and harassment of the good drivers.

I hate to see it happen, but I expected we would have to deal with it or demand better out of our industry to stop the idiot steering wheel holders from taking over.

We hardly have real men driving trucks, we have bun-headed, flip-flop-wearing morons who are only out there for themselves. Their attitude is "****** this ******, I don't get paid enough for this waiting crap," or whatever their attitude is, and it shows. Just look at how many dump their own garbage everywhere or piss at the fuel aisle. I was in loves, and someone actually took a crap at the fuel pump, I didn't even get out of my pickup just moved to another pump. Yes, I told the manager about it. He came out and took a picture, and he said he would look at the video and who used the pump last.

I say its easy to avoid all this. Stop buying new trucks. Every time you trade one in for the new model you get to be the real world test dummy for the new tech and pay a monthly fee to do so.

It is happening all around us. Even regular cars are full of nannies too. Just part of the automation process.

driving will be illegal one day, or at the very least, heavily restricted, once these autonomous vehicles hit the highway. Remember, it is us, the humans who are the imperfect and faulty ones. How many times have you seen the DOT advertise their 0 accident mission. Think about what that really means and how it is achievable.

Nothing is mandated yet. It’s pretty easy to order a new truck without it.
