Make sure to do the math on pay. If mileage pay, how many miles will you average? The same with hourly pay. Do not fall for mileage pay that is"up to" anything. You want to the know the base rate that you will receive for driving one dispatched mile. Then you want to know what the bonus pay is if they offer any and what you need to do to be eligible to get it as well as any accessorial pay such as detention time, breakdown pay and extending your breaks. Get a notebook and keep notes on every company you speak with and score what they offer and do not offer. Make sure to write down the names of the people you talk to, so when you go to orientation you can recite chapter and verse on what was said to you in the recruiting process, if there is a discrepancy.
