A lot of people - READ DRIVERS - are not on the front lines of the actual business. They don't talk to the decision makers of their customers and there is a misconception that they know what's going on in a huge industry.

These people doing the "articles" depend on the same research and projection sources I and others do, but they are not always in sync with the sources because they have to sell their site/service or articles to make revenue. Most of them do not have skin in the game and they come up with ... well crap to make reality look the way they are saying.

WARNING NOT A POLITICAL STATEMENT BUT A BUSINESS STATEMENT TO FOLLOW
A lot can happen from now to the time Trump gets into office; we could hit a lot of obstacles because the party in power right now HATES Trump and the "garbage" that supports him, which makes me even more cautious about making too many moves in the near term. I made three decisions this past week, two was to move forward with projects that were on the shelf thanks to the economy but the other was to accept the offer for a new contract from an old customer for a long-term project of theirs they are moving production out of one state into mine (don't know why but they think that our dictator will be gone). This is all I am going to do until the second quarter '25 because it is too soon to see what will happen until Trump is in office.
    I haven't, I have been a real pia.
Good for him, I am cleaning our fleet out in a few months, thinking it may be better to just open a junk yard to strip them.
I expect them to go down.
Not all the time, we need to reduce capacity by 21% at this time, this isn't mega capacity but medium size fleets down.
Yep this has already been happening. I have a lender calling me weekly and sending me a list of repos for cheap, very cheap.
Yep, reason for a scrap yard.
I have my order in to get those out of depreciation out of the main fleet and either sell them off or scrap them, I have a few that are hitting 1.6m miles.

Dude in the Classified forum has a 2017 with 400k miles on it, listed for $70k.
I was like, "good luck with that." But I was kind enough not to say so out loud.
He's since reduced it to $60k. To which I reply, "good luck with that."
If he gets $30k, he will be very lucky.

Stringb8n, Knucklehead and gerardo1961 Thank this.

This is all over the place; someone had a Corvair on FB for sale, $64,000. Why?

It has a wrap and new rims and tires. It is a complete dog of a car with typical Midwest rust but it is "rare".

I run across trucks that are ridiculously priced, most of them don't have documentation to go along with them, which should prevent anyone from buying them.

    Knucklehead and PPLC Thank this.

Trumps not gonna be able to turn economy around that fast And busy season is done when he’s going in office. I expect most likely by next September we should see turn around hitting our industry.

im an independent, not a trump “fan” but im betting the only reason they let him in office is so they can drop the upcoming depression on him

$500 In spray paint is not what makes a “restored” truck contrary to what many believe,

    I saw a 95 w900 studio for $300K yesterday.

    Or maybe it's considered condo.

    On another note.
Construction, housing, agriculture are expected to be hit the hardest.

I remember what happened when oil and fracing went into depression.
All those flatbeds were looking for anything to haul. Cutting in to the general freight market. Making more trucks then available loads.
