Some people value the good order & cooperative functioning of a culture more than others. This is why some neighborhoods are very different than other neighborhoods by dozens of measures. Some people notice the small details & want to prevent things getting worse & others think anything better than Fallujah is like winning a lottery.

That is usually the root of things like this.

Stupidity isn't restricted to just foreigners. We all see it every day on the road, in politics(both sides!) and everywhere else. Lets not act like it's a new thing specific to one group of people.

Best of luck out to you.

Every single driver that drives till the end of i40 needs their CDL taken away.

If you are that dumb and can't read signs you don't need to be behind the wheel of a truck.

But every instance of foolishness from an import is an extra & unnecessary additional act of foolishness to the already excessive foolishness on the roads. "Don't worry about the neighbor's pet ripping up your living room carpet, most carpet damage in America is caused by people living in the home."

These are 4 comments come off as some of the most prejudiced, maybe racist, xenophobic, smug comments I've ever seem on this forum. It's so disgusting. Even in the video, Ike went right to the foreigners, and the government official made 2 sentence about those who can't read English. The government official was not speaking solely to foreigners and yall insist on being stick there. Foreigners clearly weren't the only ones screwing up. Ike has a hard on for them. I'm not so sure he isn't prejudiced/racist and that's why I've dialed back watching him. He can't keep his entertainment about truckers that screw up. This thread, I thought was meant to talk about ####### truckers.

Anyway, back to the topic at hand here. Recently, I took a guy down to New Orleans to recover a truck that a fired driver left there. We had to go to Wright City, MO Union, MO to that Coke. The routing is Route 47 to I-70 to get there. Company gives directions. He told me that from Union, he gets 44, to 270, then to 70 to get to Coke. He said the back roads were to windy and narrow. I thought to myself, 47 is somewhat narrow, but far from the worst I've ever seen. He's riding with me, then he says, "I've never seen this on the way to Coke before. How did you get here?" I told that all I did was stay on Route 47. Then it dawned on me....he follows his GPS to closely. I'm not so sure that it was a modern, trucker GPS. If you put in the address for Coke in Wright City from Union in Google Maps, it puts you on 47 for a grip, but then routes you off on a very tight narrow back road that trucks aren't supposed to be on. He even asked me why I don't have a GPS. I personally don't need one. This guy, American born from Texas, 10 years older than me, but 7 years experience as opposed to my 15, primarily uses his navigation system and never an atlas. He also never checks the company directions which are 95 percent of the time dead on. We run so many of the same customers that many of them are committed to memory. Even if it's a new shipper or receiver, I don't use a GPS. Never have. So the point in me telling this story is to pour gas on the fire pertaining the comment earlier about dumbassery. It's also willful ignorance as well. So many drivers of kinds have one speed, and that's "go." They don't pay attention to signs or anything else. They may have been asleep in during the hurricane. Everyone should know by now that 40 is no good, and won't be for the foreseeable future. There's other videos of drivers following their navigation and getting stuck on roads in Sevierville. Most of those roads down that way aren't really truck routes, or if they are, they aren't easily "navigatable." I know.....I made up a word. lol

I somewhat agree with you on one part about Ike and his rushing to judgement of foreigners bit, I have to say we do have some very serious problems with a lot of them who obtained their CDL illegally and are driving on the roads.

What I mean by illegally is that they can not pass the basic English requirements that a CDL holder has to have, and this is a serious problem that has been illustrated many times by law enforcement.

Now, I'm not going to bash foreigners—I have a bunch driving/working for me—but my problem is if you can't even read English well enough to fill out an application by yourself or appear in my office alone to have an interview, how do you expect me to hire you and feel confident you can handle the job?

Case in point - I had two people show up to an interview a few weeks back; one was the driver and the other was his interpreter wife. He didn't get hired because he could not follow instructions, even when it was given in a commonly known language between the both of us. His wife ripped into me with all kinds of insults because I would not hire him. Some employees ripped into her before she left, one was from the applicants country and he was really nasty to her.

I often see where you make the point about how easy it is to get into the industry, especially as an owner op. That's the root of many problems. Many of these guys that come here, they aren't usually working for reputable companies and learning the industry that way. They're learning as they go along. Save a few bucks, establish a line of credit, buy a truck, and haul loads. It takes nothing to become an owner op anymore. Hell it's many American born drivers that have no business participating in that sector. Its all about dollars though.
