Several people on the crew asked me if I sold my other truck because I showed up here with this this year.
“Now THIS is the right tool for the job”

Meanwhile, the guy that brings the tree in shows up with a stretch RGN so//

By the way, thank you to those who responded to my question regarding tarps. I think for now I’ll just continue working on my strength and see if I’m comfortable walking with a 6 foot drop 18 gage tarp. If I do go the route of buying my own I think I’ll do a hybrid with 14 gage sides and 18 gage top, I agree the parachute material likely would not last as long as I’d expect it to - really I’m not missing tarpping but at some point I know I will need to have to again sigh…

Just out of curiosity why buy buy your own tarps? Does the company not provide them or is it just a matter of wanting something lighter than what they provide?

Personally I'd rather have thicker tarps that can handle a bit more abuse. Everywhere that I have loaded that required tarps also tends to have some way of lifting them. If I need to move one of my lumber tarps more than a few feet or up on top of a load I just have a forklift come do it. I'm not going to throw out my back trying to carry them across the parking lot or up a ladder. I will gladly leave the tarp rolled up on the deck if they can't be bothered to put it up there.

21 loads between the 2 of us. 5.2 miles between shops. Spread out over 2 days. I actually look forward to throwing a tarp again. 20241122_115230.jpg 20241122_104020.jpg

About 10 years ago I did a job like that. Moved 1 warehouse to 2 other ones. 1 of the new locations was 3 blocks from the one they were emptying. Spent like 2-3 weeks with them sliding 5 crates into a van then go 3 blocks and unload. They were super slow too. They would spend like an hour or more to load and unload on each end. Brought a pillow and just took naps all day while getting paid by the hour.
