How can we compete in manufacturing with others countries that have slave labor working for peanuts?

Manufacturing could be naturally brought back, when an average Mexican or overseas laborer achieves a foot of living similar to the one of an American laborer.

There are tarrifs and they can be effective as a trade negotiating whip with China, for example, but they won't stop the globalization of economy. If too high, they are rarely popular and appreciated by the average population, and create paradise for smugglers.

I even heard a theory, that the American Civil War was originated by tarrifs imposed on French agricultural machineries, as a result Southern farmers was forced to buy the much needed equipment from the manufacturers in New Egland, then one 'discontent' led to another. The abolition was an afterthought, something that emerged in the process.
That, of course, is dismissed and rediculed by the mainstream historians..., but that's digressing to far.

Corporate is talking about moving to other countries that won't be hit with tarriffs. Haven't seen any talking about coming back to America. Yet.

Pay for tarrifs which increases consumer pricing. Or pay for higher wages which also increases prices.
The other side will also retaliate with tarriffs.

At what cost does the consumer lose. Around the world?

Sure seems like no escape for more inflation and interest rates going back again eventually.

Which is not good for freight market

It’s weird how back in May when tariffs were raised on a bunch of things it barely made the news, but now it’s all the news talks about because it’s a different person.

Tarrifs are not about where the corporations move, it about where they want to trade.

Siinman and Long FLD Thank this.

For an average consumer, freight market is a necessary evil. As far as they are concerned, the cheaper the freight, the better. Best, if handled by robotic trucks.

    Long FLD Thanks this.
