I remember back when you couldn’t get a Cummins and I tried to push you toward the 510 and not the 455.
The thing about engines is we all have good and bad stories about all of them. Personally I will be getting another 510 Paccar when the time comes because of things that have happened to X15’s I know. I know not all of them have problems but when my Paccar’s have been relatively trouble free and my brother broke a crank on an X15 and my friend had one of his X15’s in the shop for 62 days while they argued about an overhaul that’s enough to steer me away.
@tiddlytanker when I pulled pneumatic I scaled in right at 30k with my old truck. The guys with hoods were 1500-2000 heavier. Keep in mind going from a an MX13 to an X15 is going to add 6-700 pounds or so right off the bat.
Rates are crashing and fuel to the moon!

Getting an aero is probably the reality. I need to do what is best for making money, putting myself at a weight and mpg disadvantage on top of having to finance isn't a good start. W990 is also an option, but again, Ill need to research weights on them. I also like the pete 579. Pete dealer is 110 miles away vs KW being 45 though. There are new Petes speced the way I like already on the market. I appreciate everyone's input.Siinman, ElmerFudpucker, Oxbow and 1 other person Thank this. -
Not sure if you’re interested in these, but my friend just got two with MX13’s and 13 speed manuals and they’re stamped at 17300. I imagine you could spec one with a standup bunk and keep it around 18000 stamped weight. And Peterbilt is only about 6 weeks out on ordering one.

if i can give you a word of wisdom , Just take some time to think about stuff..
another truck does not mean it's going to be ok.. every truck has problems... me personally if I was in your position which I literally am. I would throw a down payment in a new one and get to work... all used trucks have problems, and the next one could always be worse then what u got...
I threw a good chunk of change at your situation and lost, had to go get a company ride for the time being.Siinman, dwells40, Oxbow and 1 other person Thank this. -

Thinking about getting a new one, would keep mine as a backup and take it completely apart to redo it, I know alot of people post about hating working on trucks, I actually like doing it, but hate being under the gun, to get things done, this would change that. Prices sure are favorable right now though, seeing brand new trucks that I could stomach (would be an aero since I pull van over 1/2 the time) for around 160 brand new. Might get some time off before the end of the year here due to plant closures coming up, and if I could get the deal done before the end of the year might do it just for tax purposes

I swear 8 years ago when I was leased on with Mercer, holiday power only UPS loads payed $2/mile...
Fast forward to now, the agent at the company i lease onto is posting the same loads for $2/mile...
Never had any interest 8 years ago to pull them, certainly don't now but dang, UPS is laughing literally all the way to the bank.
But, the loads are all light, drop&hook, and no tarping...

Kemar Ajani Edwards on Instagram: "Back in the days it was two log books some truckers would run, now they running two companies, all this because they can’t say no to cheap freight absolutely unacceptable #truck #trucknation #truckporn #instadaily #instalike #instagram #trucklife"
As long as stuff like this goes on the rates will continue to be in the tank. And 90% of the comments on that video are also the problem with this industry.

They must’ve purchased another MC to switch companies but are keeping this one active also. But everyone is still worried about how much a broker makes instead of focusing on real issues that are the problem.dwells40, Siinman, DUNE-T and 1 other person Thank this.
