If you attribute other people's opinions to me you will always be confused. Instead of wasting time and money on lawyers I have almost always preached "drive like the cops and your boss are in the truck with you." Don't do the stupid tricks to get a ticket or bad inspection and you won't have to take time off work to go beg a judge for anything and you won't have to spend 3 times as much as the fine to have a lawyer beg the judge for anything. It's perfectly consistent. It's also got a near perfect record of producing the desired results. I saw it firsthand over 28 years. The only ticket I ever got I didn't deserve was for unpaid company tax my boss was responsible for as the owner and not the driver, me. It could hardly get any more fair, any way you look at it. It's the drivers that develop sloppy or reckless habits, think getting away with those bad habits 90% of the time is a written contract with the universe, and then whine like 8 year old girls when they have to pay for the 1 out of ten times they got caught doing the bad thing. That's unfair, they should be paying for EVERY time they break the regs.

If the system is unfair wouldn't a person try extra hard not to break any rules instead of expecting to have a pleasant experience AFTER breaking the rules? I think unfair often means I'm not allowed to do what I want and have no consequences. We used to have a name for people that think that way. I think it was children, maybe I'm wrong.
