Some truckers definitely treat it as their home. Sure if you want to watch TV, play video games, eat, and sleep, that's probably where most will draw the line. I mean....how many guys have come on here talking about how they got fired for having beer in the truck? I'm of the opinion, don't drink and drive, and if you're going to drink at the truck stop, don't get caught. It's a risk to do that,, and you better cover your behind if you take that chance. Now the difference there is that there are regs that forbid that. Getting sex in the truck isn't federally regulated. I also have no problem with a driver getting lucky in the truck on his 10. My opinion, and your opinion, quite frankly, doesn't matter on that. You go to them for a job and if they don't want you ####ing in the truck on your 10, then that's what it is.....I dare someone to ask that in an orientation lol.
I remember I came across this guy who owned a couple of trucks, back in the paper log era. He had a Qualcomm system in his truck. He didn't care how his drivers ran. He just wanted to know where his truck was at all times. He had 1 rule.....no piss jugs in his truck. The smell and the difficulty/cost of cleaning it should it spill was his reason behind it. He went to go into the truck his driver was in, I think it had to go to the shop. Dude saw the piss jug and told his driver to clean his stuff out of the truck. He fired that driver. Sure it's his "home," and I sympathize and even agree. I am only saying its a workspace first. The truck ain't no regular home though. Most of us drivers are big, it ain't that much space to be rolling around in this Volvo I'm in.

I wonder if they had triggered the G sensor bouncing the cab around. Because otherwise the question becomes WTAF is the company doing monitoring driver cams in trucks that are off duty?
As for as privacy, it doesn't matter that the company owns the truck. The sleeper is there for their benefit to provide rest accommodations. Does a motel have the right to video you in your room that they own? There's no valid argument for that camera to ever be on while the truck is parked.Speedy356, Tb0n3 and hope not dumb twucker Thank this. -
Most if not all driver facing cams would be blocked by the window curtains if they were drawn.
At Hogan we were encouraged to block the driver facing cam when on our breaks.

Fired for violating company policy. Somewhere in the paperwork he was given during orientation, there is verbiage citing ‘personal conduct that reflects badly on the company image’. Which means, don’t patronize a liquor store, or a peep show/massage parlor on your way home from work while wearing a company uniform, or hat. Don’t attend political functions wearing anything that others may construed as your are representative of your employer. How many witnesses were there who saw the hooker climbing into that company truck?

I'm not defending what the driver did, or implying they shouldn't have fired him. But using a camera into the sleeper at night is asking for legal trouble. They'll get away with it when it's some uninformed dweller, but they do it to the wrong person and they'll wish they hadn't.hope not dumb twucker, drvrtech77 and Tb0n3 Thank this.
