My husband has his CDL A, He hasn’t been in a truck OTR since like 2017-2018. He has been driving for our city bus transit. He keeps talking about going back OTR again. He has his double/triples, tanker, and passenger endorsements and a few others he mentioned just but not hazards. He has a goal to be back on the road for at least 5 years minimum. He is looking to go back this coming year in June/July 2025. Realistically how bad is the industry? He would be basically making the same he is now driving the city bus. How hard is it to get a job when you haven’t been behind the wheel in a few years? Basically is it a goal he can obtain? He would like me to join him after he has been out for at least 6 months. At that point we would get rid of our apartment and put things at the kids house and that would be our home base until we settle down south. I have been researching and it’s mixed reviews on the industry now. Some say don’t do it some say do it. Thanks in advance for the help and information. I should mention he is also looking for drop and hook or no touch freight.
Looking to go back OTR

We are from Tennessee, but moved to Nevada several years ago. Lots of sand, but no beaches here.Last edited: Dec 29, 2024
