That's alot of reading....
All I have to say about this post is if
L2339A 00 04/14/2010 LEASE PAYMENT $ 583.51
L2339A 00 04/14/2010 DOWN PAYMENT $ 123.14
$583.51 is your weekly lease payment that's pretty good. When I got out of school in 2006 I leased a brand new Freight shaker Classic XL for over $2400 per month. I didn't have to put a down payment though.

First I base all my fuel miles off 5.5 miles per gallon. Anything left over can be used for taxes or to take the old lady out or chrome LOL.
$600 for insurance isn't going to happen at LS. It's way, way less unless you have a 2010 truck and trailer.
Admin expenses? Not sure what that is.
Your truck payment is great. Mine was $930 per month.
Your maintenance account can be less or more depending on what you already have. If you have nothing in reserve that I'll get you to $16,000 in 20 weeks if you keep it up.
$20,000 will get you a new Detroit crate motor and tranny fixed. Of course this is a worse case scenario and youd have to get fixed by a mechanic that you can trust.
If you have a credit card with a high enough limit you might want to put that 16,000 to 20,000 or more towards paying off your truck. Unless you like the interest write off. But you would save thousands in interest if you pay it off early.
Get with an accountant and find a creative way to lease your truck and trailer back to yourself. (You didnt mention trailer payment or rental/lease cost. (LS will lease you a trailer and they will cover tires, brakes, plates and insurance for $600 per month.) If you dont have your own already. Its a great way to start off with LS. But when you go home for a week or month you still pay for the trailer. Keep that in mind.
E-fax is about $16.00 per month if you pay for the year. Youll need a Great cell phone. Laptop with an Internet connection is a must with or without LS.
Your satellite radio hookup if you need it.
Of course there is a lot more to break down but youre on the right track. What really matters isnt just how much money you put in your pocket, but also how much money it cost you to put that money in your pocket.
Make Cents! Hope that helps. -
Are you seeing an increase in rates yet??? Landstar sent me an application, but im hesitant to send it back cause I feel like I wont get average rate i'm looking for, at least for now.
But I feel like rates will definately pick up and on the one hand, maybe I should position myself now to take advantage of this. Cause I've heard that those who get paid a percentage will benefit first over those who get paid per mile.
But life has taught me that, 'a bird in the hand, beats two in the bushes'. So I'm inclined to stay where I am, cause I know what to expect.
(so i guess thats my answers huh) -
The rates here at L/S are indeed going up. I do Heavy haul, and rates are jumping as much as $3,500 per day on one load. Vans? not my thing but, other BCO's say rates are going up. Some of the agents are telling me they can't find a truck to load unless it pays $$$ I don't know your situation but, you may give some thought to making a move.
Travelinman Thanks this. -
TravelinMan. I have yet to see the rates go up significanly here. When they do I'll quit hanging around the house and run the long haul again.
I don't do oversize nor heavy haul. I quit doing that about a year and a half ago when those rates went down.Travelinman Thanks this. -

What am I looking at being leased to Landstar? How much could I potentially put in my pocket each week with the ideal piece of truck hardware? I'm an experienced flatbedder and heavy hauler too. Don't know if that helps.
