Think about it, wasn't there talk one time about the scales being able to access all your info as you were approaching? With AI now a program could do a quick review of ones logs, look for edits, and now subject to a pull in and inspection, all by having access to ones ELD info.

Highway and RMIS are there for Broker regulation nothing else such as helping out the Carriers/Owner Operators. Allegedly there's going to be a Carrier511 for Carriers but more easier for Brokers to sew who's listed on Carrier411 right away. But will be a one onboarding registration for Carriers.

From the get-go, the FMCSA screwed up by letting these ELD companies "Self Certify" that their products meet all of the requirements. They should have had to be certified by the feds.

My ELD is Motive (formerly KeepTruckin). I'm looking to change to an ELD provider that (at least now) Highway cannot integrate with given comments in this thread that Omnitracs, likely the biggest ELD provider (used by a lot of big fleets) apparently isn't allowing Highway to integrate. So far, I found out that Garmin is also not on Highway's "approved" list of ELDs, but my search continues. Given Highway's apparently quickly expanding role in the carrier onboarding market and the firestorm pace by which Highway has convinced brokers to walk away from working with their existing, long-term, established, and vetted carriers, I think that there is a huge risk that we carriers/drivers are not talking about a lot, at least not yet. That risk is that Highway might next convince ELD providers to cooperate and provide access to a carrier's ELD automatically. This could be done easily by any ELD provider (like my Motive ELD) simply changing its license/carrier agreement to allow it to release any or all ELD information to Highway or anyone it chooses. This simple language change also could allow the release without any notice to a carrier. We all know that these agreements are written however the ELD provider sees is best for its purposes. They are under the sole control of the ELD provider. How many of us actually read the agreements and all the fine print initially or when we receive an email notification of revised language in the agreement? Typically, our acceptance of ANY change is automatic per the language in these agreemments if we continue to use the ELD. My business information -- what shippers I haul for (brokered or direct), what cargo is on my truck (i.e. high-value), where my truck is located and where I live and whether or not I'm home -- is too important to allow Highway to have unlimited access to it and have control over its release to others. I think it's also irresponsible for Highway-affiliated brokers to require a carrier to allow that information to be collected. I don't mind that they've deemed me "disqualified." That feeling is now mutually felt. But the possible damage, losses and risk for which we carrier/drivers are exposed to is from Highway's release of or loss of that information. That release could be to the thousands of agents of its mostly unknown affiliated brokers, to anyone in its third-party worldwide support network (Highway's acknowleged its primary support group is in the Phillipines, but stated it has other locations), or to any number of worlwide hackers from the almost inevitable hack of Highway's computer system (think China, Russia, North Korea). Highway controls that release. They don't truly control a potential loss from being hacked, many of which are by company insiders or authorized third-parties. It's just not about loss of privacy or sensitive business information. Disruptions or the complete loss of a carrier's business opportunities and/or operation can happen from easily changing hours-of-service information or identity theft through bad actors getting sufficient information to pose as a carrier, getting sufficient information to clone a carrier's identity to get a load (think organized cargo theft), or file fraudulent regulatory information. Highway and its affiliated brokers likely will accept none of the responsibility for any adverse consequences to carriers from the misuse of released information or from the inevitable data breach/hack. I now realize that the same is true if an ELD provider is allowing or would allow any third-party access to a carrier's ELD data, like Motive (KeepTruckin) and many others already do. It's time for me to "buy" some insurance for my business and livelihood against Highway and its affiliated brokers ELD-integration requirement and get rid of my Motive ELD.

You can buy garmin cheap. No subscription.
That's a primitive, not as user friendly ELD as Motive but all your data is kept on that plug in and your phone. If you don't back up and lose your phone or the plug in gets damaged, you'll lose it all.

Everyone should just say they have an incompatible ELD when signing up regardless of whatever brand they actually have.
