So I'm in the process of changing companies, and i have several things I need to do. First thing is to take my truck to Freightliner. They may have it for a few days. 2nd thing is to then pick it up and take it to one of the inspection places the company I'm changing to provided. I could probably do this on the way back from the shop. Last thing would be to bring the truck to the carrier to have them add the qualcom, and get the permits, etc. Up to this point I've been with the same place for the last 9 years, so i haven't ever been in this situation! I lost the insurance, plate and qualcom upon leaving the company, so I'm trying to figure out how i roll to do these things! Oh, and I'm in the state of Texas!! Any advice i can get will be greatly appreciated! Also i apologize in advance if this subject has recently been talked about, as I literally just signed up for Truckers Report10 mins agoThanks!!!!!

Contact DPS, and get a temp permit. Usually good for 10 days. We did this all the time moving frac equipment in the oil patch. Get ‘bobtail insurance’ first. Have the insurance policy number, truck vin, and your CDL license number. Should be able to do it over the phone, if not they will give you the Internet address. If have a smart phone, they should be able send the permit to you that way.

Thanks for the help Lazer! So just to make sure. This was in the state of Texas when you had to do this ??

Just spoke to DPS they can't help with temp tag unless you have a DOT #. I guess you were able to run those 10 day temp tags because of that! So bascially still striking out with temp tag and temporary insurance. Any other advice would be appreciated.. Thanks!!

Get the contract, meet with the company and go through the process, they will set up your insurance and you just got to DPS and get the plate with the contract. -

Talk to the new company.
They should be able to issue you a temp or "in transist paper plate"
Freightliner cant do the inspection your new company wants? I
Ask because my company also has approved places for your inspection, and wants it done to company specs, on and with company paperwork. But if going yo a dealer. They will fax or email the forms
