you realize these places are mostly filled with babied overpaid union guys with little skills and will struggle in the private sector
luckily most ltls run the same so they can hop from one to another when they realize they cant make the same money, and most office staff can't spot this from a resume

Union guys tend to hate working at my place because of our permanent bids and one board seniority.

That's why I'm waiting for R&L to open the new Owensboro KY terminal. They have permanent bids. Good trucks and my buddy out of Norwalk OH said they have yet to slow. I'm hoping when I check yes I've worked for you before I can get in towards the top and get Memphis turn

When I worked for r&l. When you bid it's your until you bid on something else. When you do and are awarded your new bid, your old bid goes up for someone to bid on. Was rinse repeat cycle. Has it's pros and cons.

Basically that means research before you sign.

One pro would be if one of the senior yahoos decides he wants your run because he found out it’s mostly dock deliveries he’s SOL.

One con is if you take a run to what you think might be a good area and you find out it’s mostly house deliveries, you’re the one who’s SOL.

IMG_6794.jpeg They were thinking about putting our runs up for bid at my barn, then decided against it. They know I’m the only crazy enough to my run. Because no one else wants to deal with retail, farms and residential drops.

Had this happen to me yesterday, wind caught it as I was bringing it down from the trailer. Five Below store.

Never get bumped until your ready to sign a different bid is a plus. My buddy in Norwalk was on the same bid for 5 years. Finally he decided it was time for a change and bid a different Linehaul run.

You don't have to worry about me being senior to you and you love your run but mines holding me and screwing me around lately so next bid I take yours and screw you.

Con would be it could take longer for you to really get what you want.

I’ve been on the same peddle run now for 10.
