Bison is over 50% outside carriers now, i'm pretty sure they're all doing that at this point.

52% I can see it's accurate especially amongst the smaller carriers. The spot market Here in Canada is beyond discouraging and tough as nails. When I was leaving on a load going west. I spoke to a O/o who was waiting on a load going back to NL. He said, it difficult for a lot and after hearing about his financial debt I realized it not just myself. The majority of these Brokers are just ripping off the carriers wanting them to pull 44k lbs loads from BC to NB for less than $1.90 a mile when diesels now $1.73 and in Northern Ontario $1.85/litre. For some it's better they absorb the cost by not running for a couple days less otherwise you're running for fuel alone. Never seen it this bad since I entered this industry in the 90's.

It's not just the brokers, the shippers are just as bad. A lot of them don't have a problem, letting the brokers/trucking companies know, this is payback for the rate/freight boom 2018-2022. What's worse tho, is no matter how low they go, there is always 20 trucks ready to go. I mean Deva Jatt is making a come back out west here, LCV and all, blows my mind, gotta be for the cost of the fuel and that's it.

You should see their yard. Gotta be 50 wrecked tractors there.

There is no money in domestic ltl. Tfi should have bought Xpo, and folded Kindersleys network into theirs. That would make it a North American ltl powerhouse.

It’s confusing to me how TFI was even allowed to acquire The Siemens Group.

In 2019/2020 TFI attempted to acquire Apps Cartage. They required approval from the Competition Bureau which denied their request due to their significant share of the market already. Then somehow 3 years later they were allowed to purchase Siemens. (A company way bigger in that same segment).

Easy, Siemens was a dumpster fire, esp the terminals/warehouses (which were all condemned shortly after TFI purchased them). With Kindersley being a direct competitor of ours, we used to get a ton of this staff and drivers, and the stories man, just mind blowing. They were going down fast, most of their customers had dropped them, the equipment was falling apart, the terminals were literally un-inhabitable, TFI should have let them ROT imho.

I believe it, for the past 8 years, them and Kingsway have been my arch nemesis on the road, both in Canada and the US (nothing like almost dying to Kingsway in another country). I've seen Deva Jatt crash everything in every way possible, I know their LCV has been suspended at least 3-4 times since 2018. Again, you just got to wonder how this is allowed to continue. Meanwhile, I had to produce my drivers abstract, and pay to have MPI pull an insurance history on me, along with signing a declaration just to get on this dump companies insurance.

Easy answer. Self regulation. Zero enforcement by dot. Can’t count how many times we have been told by dispatch no lcv due to poor road conditions, and here comes Gardwine, penner, transx, and a few others with sets, green lighted through headingley scale. Imo, the rules need to be changed to every time a tow truck is needed you have to report it.

Honestly, left BC a few days ago and when speaking directly to the Shipper from the last minute load I got off the load board. He told me that Owner Operators have been canceling on him for the past year & it difficult in BC to get carriers for Freight loads. I felt like I was in a totally different country being in East Canada because it's the opposite. It might of been a streak of luck but I was paid well north of $3 for that load they got more loads to ship. Could be the crazy mountains no one wants to drive on but there seems to be ton of work in AB & BC still for Independent O/o's.
