Is IRT still hiring at this time? What do we need? Do we need a Twic card to come here?

Twic isn't necessary. Not sure about hiring, have to call recruiter. I don't really keep up with that side of the company.

The first few years I worked here, I went into the Port of Wilmington in Delaware without a TWIC by paying the escort fee. That consisted of a Port security worker leading me inside to the loading facility, then leading me back to the gate. They drove a regular vehicle while I followed in the semi. Afterward, IRT reimbursed us for the fee.

For several years now, we have had a drop yard outside of the Port. A local driver, who lives in the area and goes home every night, spends his work day shuttling tanks in and out for us. That eliminated the escort fee and made things more efficient by turning it into a drop and hook. Port Elizabeth in New Jersey is similar. I was able to drive into the Baltimore Port without an escort the few times I’ve loaded there. The loads I’ve hauled out of Florida that originated at a port have always been preloaded and picked up at the Winter Haven terminal. If there are other ports we go to, I’m not familiar with them. I don’t have a TWIC card and haven’t during the years I’ve worked here.

Yes we do but Wilmington is the only one I have been to that requires a TWIC card. If you want to get one anyway, wait until after you get hired that way the company will reimburse you for the cost.

Because they probably run the miles to make bank at .60 a mile. Unlike some of the other turd carriers that offer more but way less miles.
