They take the driver's years of experience in consideration but being a brand new entrant is going to be pricey depending on where you're based out of. Get several quotes from numerous agents to get an idea. If you can make it for two years it'll drop significantly.

You didn’t say whether you were going to get your own authority or going to lease on.The_SnowMan710 Thanks this. -

I'm working with an agent right now just trying to get quotes... man, oh man... She is all but insisting that I get an LLC and buy the equipment before she gives me any numbers. I think she'll give me a rough quote today but it's been a little bit of a struggle. Basically keeps telling me that she can't quote anything until I'm in the games but I don't want in the game until I have a quote. Insurance proves once again to be overly complicated and inexcusably impractical. I'll keep up the good fight, though!Vampire Thanks this. -
Can you find equipment similar to what you plan to buy and use the VIN from those? Truckpaper ads have the VIN listed a lot.

Yea, that's what we ended up doing. I sent a couple of vins for a truck and a trailer that are pretty close to what I want. If I had my LLC set up, I would've been actively bidding on it, if not buying it. I emailed them this morning so we'll see what I get back.

I am currently getting quotes to reactivate my authority, and I can tell you that in Florida the quotes are so high they are basically saying we dont want to insure you! There is no way to make the business work with some of the quotes Ive been getting. Basically, Id run all year just to pay the insurance company and not myself. But, one agent told me that Gieco is doing commercial insurance and undercutting everybody. I did the online form and if I filled it out correctly their quote is 50% of what the others were quoting. In the Florida market its still a high quote as far as I am concerned but it would at least get me in the ballpark to run and make a profit or at least pay myself and not just some insurance company.

Great guy out of Palm Coast area. He set me up with GEICO. Got it for me less than half what Progressive wanted. That’s even with me having $250k in loss runs.Vampire and crackinwise Thank this. -
