I mentioned ELD, you'll need a paper log book, in the event the ELD goes out, you need a permit book to hold all of your documents(insurances, IFTA, registration, liquor licenses, etc). You also need instructions on how to use the ELD. That's for starters.
Need advice on my new logistics company

One of the many many YouTube channels that cover these issues you are asking about.

I think yhe YT channel of Steady Trucker was exactly what you need. He hardly makes vids anymore, but old vids are still good kids. He was OTR for decades, switched to Owner-Op. Later he switched to box truck, then box truck with small flatbed trailer. He explains the issues with trying to live on load-boad freight through brokers & their many lies & tactics. One tactic is posting 1 real load as 150 different loads paying different amounts & with slightly different locations. He dealt a lot with lies about load weight & dimensions. I do not see a very new owner/passenger being able to learn the game before you are flat broke. Stubbornness is necessary, but it's not the only thing necessary to succeed.
