    Little diesels just don't sound as nice as a V8 gasser.

    What issues did you have after 100K with your GM diesel? Did you buy them new, or used?

    Neither. I have a 270000 mi 5.3 Silverado . I just don't have faith in small turbo charged, engs that have very tight tolerances. The run great, til they don't.

    One could say that about anything. I’m on my 2nd diesel from GM. This latest one is better than the last.

    Those little diesels ain’t famous for lasting a long time

    But they are famous for being VERY expensive to repair .

    Diesel's too expensive compared to 87 octane and the better mpg's don't make up for the difference. Gasser turbos run just as good.

    I don’t even like the turbo gassers

    I’d rather have a V8 than a turbo 6 anyday

    I have a turbo 4 in the stable and it runs ok now but I know it’s gonna need expensive repairs

    it’s a turbo four with direct injection so it has the 3000 psi gasoline Injection pump
    Water cooled turbo with separate water pump etc

    I got it cheap at $7000 six years ago so when it blows it’s just going to the scrapyard .

    It’s a blast to drive though
    Little mini cooper turbo with a six speed manual .
    Fastest car I’ve ever driven

    and I’ve driven plenty of corvettes etc

    but for long term reliability and maintenance, a big V8 is the way to go

    I got 43 MPG max and consistent 33 MPG with my mini max. Over 4 trouble free years, it more than made up for the price difference. Extended oil change intervals, regular maintenance. What a great truck.

    Now my 1500 has gotten a best 38 MPG. Without the bed cover I’m getting between 24 and 30 depending on speed.
