There’s a bright one. He thinks to himself the truck is releasing hazardous material on the road so what am I going to do? FOLLOW IT 20 MILES of course! That’s what you want to do, get CLOSER to a haz mat release. Probably a volunteer fireman

ok, funny story, not cryo but related.
We haul live fish inside a reefer trailer, and there’s always a little water running out of the drain holes on the back, especially when we go around corners. It’s actually written into the state law that it’s permitted to lose both water and hay (particles) from ag trucks, so no biggie, right?

One fine day on US 93 in MT, around Stevensville, our driver calls in a panic “I just got pulled over by five cops, what do I do?” Ummmmm, whatever they tell you? Anyway, guns drawn, there’s a state trooper, couple of deputies; it’s a rodeo.

Turns out, some lady noticed the water, got some spatters on her windshield, was CONVINCED she was poisoned by hazardous waste and drove herself directly to the emergency room in a panic.

It’s also a lot of fun when your pressure release on a liquid bottle pops off right as you’re at the border doing the “five question” thing with the border guard. That was a bit of a time waster.

One time in LA traffic had a guy pull up next to me in a straight panic. “Get out, get out, your trailer is on fire!!!” lol Sir venting is normal on this liquid nitrogen trailer. But I do appreciate you bringing it to my attention as most folks these days wouldn’t even piss on me if I was on fire.

I bounce jobs every year and a hald to 2 years and . Linde didn't even bat an eye. I move alot, and I love experimenting and learning new things with our profession and my jobs show that I'm doing all sorts of different things. I LOVED hauling Milk, But I really enjoy Cryo as well. Financially, Cryo is alot more likeable. But hauling milk was alot more satisfying and fun, and we had ALOT better equipment on the milk side. But I work less and make more with cryo and I dont have worry about hurting myself throwing hoses, But I'm also not in anywhere in shape like I was hauling milk either.

So I talked to someone at Genox. So their only company drivers are local/regional. Otr is lease only. Currently I'm too far away for company. But was told I'm good if anything did open up

Yeah, that’s what my impression was, but @viper822004 mentioned they move people around, and he’s been at this longer than me, so I’ll trust his advice. Probably better not working for a common if I can avoid it anyway, since I’ve been warned by @Cali kid that they (especially GenOx) tend to not train their drivers very well.

I’m hopeful they will with me as well, but my experience with Praxair’s recruiting in the past (before the merger with Linde) makes me not very optimistic. I’m currently at 5 in the last 2 years and 3 in the last year, but by April I’ll be 2 in the last year. I have had a bad habit of ignoring my gut feeling and going with carriers I probably shouldn’t have. Such as Quantix (in their early days), Watsontown Trucking Company, and doing FedEx Ground with a contractor. 2 of those are what’s hurting me at the moment. I was only with Watsontown for around a month and FedEx for just over 4; however I was with RTI out of Kansas City for 10 months and I’ve been at Climate Express for 6.

Also, I have noticed that nobody really talks about LHE. I see plenty of trailers going down the road that say Helium, Compressed Liquid; so I’d say it’s a pretty common cryo gas. Is helium just that boring that it doesn’t deserve a mention?

I saw a Messer truck at the Coke facility I’m delivering to here in Aldine and remembered that I forgot to check Messer’s website for jobs. They don’t list their individual positions, but they have terminals in LaPorte, Pasadena, and Baytown. I noticed they have a sign on bonus, which triggered my memory from earlier in this thread that a lot of people don’t really have a favorable opinion of Messer. I guess I could use that as a fallback in the event Linde turns me down. They wouldn’t offer a sign on bonus if they weren’t hurting for drivers.
