Im gonna be honest, that 4 day work week was what drew me to apply. I’ve not heard good things about TransForce (the staffing agency in Virginia, not TFI International though I don’t hear good things about them either), but every company has diamond in the rough jobs; and frankly if a company is outsourcing to TransForce to hire for a 4 day work week with the pay they’re offering, it must surely be a diamond. The main reason I am kinda bummed by it is because port work suuuuuucks. Lots of waiting around in line at the ports. Granted, I’ll be working nights if I get it (they can’t officially say I have the job, I’m still in processing). My shift would start at 4, and the container ports close at 6, so unless I’m running bulk to the main port next to the Astrodome I won’t be going to the actual port very much.

Yeah, I’m sure I’ll find my retirement job someday. Nice thing about TransForce is if the carrier I drive for fires them or that job goes away, they’ll move me to something else. I figure I’ll give it a few years. I’m only 34 and I’m still relatively early in my career (only been driving for just over 7 years).

Yeah, that’s a hard pass. I’m so over OTR and teaming is the worst thing that ever happened to the trucking industry IMHO.

AFAIK they don't really haul containers in and out of the area under the 610 bridge (Manchester, Clinton Dr., etc.) so you'll probably be running in and out of the container terminals at Barbour's Cut and Bayport as well as other container yards in the area. You will become very familiar with 146 and 225, if you're not already.

I probably won’t go into the ports proper too much since both Bayport and Barbour’s Cut both close at 6pm daily, and my shift will start at 4pm; so it’ll likely be like you said I’ll probably be going to yards. Unless I’m doing bulk, then I could go to the main port off Clinton Drive. Regardless, yeah, I’ll become pretty intimately familiar with the whole LaPorte, Baytown, Seabrook, Channelview area.

I am according to the spam I get in the mail. To order shirts to show my service or something.
Unless they count the 4 months I was at CRST.

So I have a feeling that class B Matheson job in Bangor Maine isn't great. Since what feels like a month later. I see the job opening again

If its a cylinder gig, they'll always be hiring. Linde Gas and Equipment in Tualitin has been hiring since I moved to Oregon 5 years ago. It's tough work. I wouldnt last a week doing it, with as bad as my wrists are. Matheson here is always hiring. I'd at least go talk to them and get a feel of it, see if its something that would interest you.
