I’m dreading Monday. Took this week off

 

From my understanding that local is on the higher side as far as buy ins-
That said, kinda depends on what you do if that would be worth it as a OO.
Theres opportunity as far as dump work on union jobs that would be worthwhile/

Most of the dump trucking and local open deck and heavy equipment moves in my general area are covered by union drivers working for companies though vs as individuals with their own equipment that have bought in.


Occasionally their will be a load posted on the board needing a union driver to bring something from NJ to the city. Bout 50/50 whether they have no money on it or pretty significant money from what I have seen. Not enough money or often enough that I’d go get it. On the other hand, we don’t know what opportunities we don’t have til we have them. We know what we know in other words.
Like I didn’t initially start buying piggybacks because people were beating down my door to pay me a lot of money to use them; but now that I have them sometimes people do.



All that to say: sometimes investments are all about who you know vs the skills you have/

Well, maybe buying in isn’t as crazy as I first thought, but $1,500 a month still seems like a lot.

 

I can’t speak to what Ruthless’s situation is but I did the union owner op deal for a while. Since I had 27 years in the Teamsters prior to being a Carhaul owner op. I figured I would do it when the opportunity arose to get more time towards my pension. It cost me approximately $2,000 extra a month but came with Cadillac health insurance, pension and also higher potential weekly revenue. Depending on how many kids someone has and if any of the family is on high dollar prescriptions it can actually be a good deal. In my case it also opened up the opportunity to freight which paid very well that I couldn’t haul non union. I eventually went back to my non union carrier because I missed my predictable home time which is worth more than the extra revenue and insurance to me. My wife has health insurance through her job and it’s good enough for our needs.

Front flap looks backwards. Been a minute since I pulled one though.

 

I always pull the sides over the flap. Keeps it nice and tight down the side. Just the way i do it. I know most would pull the flap over the sides
