If you were the better driver, you would have been scanning that entry way before you committed. Seeing possible hazards, dick head drivers, etc., before you commit is something that you need to be aware of. Just saying.

In this picture, you were where the blue arrow is, and the other truck coming out the wrong way is where the green arrow is. Do I have that right?
If that’s the case, you’re on a public road. He isn’t, so if it were me he’s backing up one or the other, either to let me in or to swing wide and take his right turn from the left side. I absolutely would NOT back up under any circumstances.

you are correct in saying the person on private property should yeild.
I always considered the vehicle on the travel lanes as having the right of way.
and to answer your question, yes, a car can hide behind you.
