CR England, like many companies now, want you to become a Lease Operator. You will be pressured to sign from the day you step on the truck with your trainer. If you choose to go the company driver route, they will force you out by 6 months. There are few if any company drivers with more than 6 months time. (this according to two of my buddies that run as L/O for them).
Being a L/O isn't all bad. I'm one, but each company writes theirs different. As I understand, England's is pretty rough if you can't get the miles or make it work. Theirs has a pretty substantial penalty to walk away. There are others out there that have better terms and conditions.
I have been told other things, but can't substantiate them, so I'll leave it here. Just be sure and check out their lease BEFORE you sign on.

Spend a little time reading the threads on this forum and you will understand why I say avoid CR England. They have a reputation of being one of the shiftiest companies out there. If you have other prehires I would explore those options first.

    Greetings all,

I am currently enrolled in a CDL school. I got prehires from Werner and TMC, but they now I find that they don't want to hire me because I can't verify my work history for the last 3 years. I was doing odd jobs/lawncare for people. I hear that pretty much all companies want proof of work history. Is there anyway I can get around this? I find it odd that I can't get a job so I pay $4k to get my CDL and now I still can't get a job.

That is funny. My wife had one knock on her door. When she looked out the window the young lady asked if she had seen her poodle. To which my wife said, hunny EVERYONE here has seen your poodle!

All you hands about to go to driving school or about to go into training at a company, do yourselves a favor and get this book from this website:

    www.bumper2bumpertruckbook.com

You'll be glad you did, and so will your trainer... no, I don't have anything to do with the outfit, and I'm no spammer, the book has solid advice and easy-to-comprehend diagrams which will certainly help you in your new profession. Good luck to all of ya... "Adios!"

Ditto the above Railsplitter. At $12.49 even my semi-impoverished self will order one. I am pulling out all the cushions and scraping all pennies together :biggrin_2559:

TMC wanted me to provide them with 5 years worth of W2s because they did not want to pay the $20 The Work Number requires to verify my employment. Wow! They sounded too good to be true. I guess they are...
