My friend, you never ate one off the roller grill at the Pilot in Rayville, LA. have you? I did that once there and I ended up with the runs like you wouldn't believe and upset stomach for two days.
While out on the road, do you mostly make your own meals or buy food?

however I did survive the great buffet poisoning of 2003 at the Flying J Temple Georgia. It wasn’t the top buffet poisoning at a truck stop but it did get my “Best Food Poisoning” award because it was the best I ever had, I just got a portable toilet at camping world a week before, it was sitting in the side box when it struck. All told over 40 people got sick, and after the state investigators filed their report, it turned out all of us got sick from an employee who didn’t wash her hands before she processed lettuce, she was petting one of the chickens that used to hang around there.
If my wife goes with me to one of the offices, I stop and get roller dogs for breakfast to piss her off, and if I ignore her on the way, she gets pissed and shuts up for the morning.
Roller dogs are amazing things for more than food.Sirscrapntruckalot, Stringb8n and kemosabi49 Thank this. -
I air fry frozen things that won’t cause a mess or odor pretty often. Sometimes I’ll keep it simple and just make a sandwich or two. The only times I really eat at truck stops is if I’m craving a Casey’s breakfast pizza. I also grab food at Kwik Trip occasionally, if I happen to be there for a night.
Works out pretty well to where I can just stop at Walmart every couple weeks, and then use rewards points for odds and ends like a loaf of bread to get me by, if needed. Almost zero dollars spent in truck stops for most monthshope not dumb twucker and D.Tibbitt Thank this. -
I usually bring some leftovers, prep a couple salads, a couple little frozen dinner things, protein powder/green drinks, and do a reciprocal nice lunch with a customer buddy each trip. Turns out you feel like crap after nearly 20 years of subway, taquitos, crap off the truck stop rack and red bulls... so I wish I figured that out sooner.
This year I would like to pull a fish right out of the river where I park each wednesday night and cook that mofo up then and there. On foil and on the turbo.hope not dumb twucker and D.Tibbitt Thank this. -
I do a mix of both. But with the high prices to eat out and the horrible quality of food you get for the high price I find it is not worth it much anymore... I have 2 mini fridges in the truck... I eat a lot of sandwiches for lunch , and usually take a meat . Chicken/ground beef/ steak / porkchops for dinner and something simple like rice.... I enjoy cooking tho so it's not a big deal to me. I feel 100 times better than I used to than when I ate at truckstops everyday and I only spe d about 300 dollars a month compared to eating out is close to 200 dollars a week...
no Brainer in my opinionSirscrapntruckalot, Numb, hope not dumb twucker and 3 others Thank this. -
