How many hours does the graduation certificate show. That's what matters.

    Asking out of ignorance

Would that 6 day course work to get a license to drive as AG/Farm or personal use/RV but not be viable for Interstate commerce?

    Numb Thanks this.

If it's advertised as a 160 hr. school, then that's good enough.
My cdl school was two weeks/10 working days. Everyone graduated and went right to work with various trucking companies.
Driving trucks is not that complex.

    2 things.
Thing #1, 6 days is not enough time to learn how to safely and properly drive a CMV. Period.
Thing #2, you will not be hired by any kind of decent company. Most will require 160 hours of training.
If you go down this road, very soon you will feel like you've been ripped off by both the school and the halfazzed company that hired you......and you have been.
Get into a decent accredited school and do the things the hard, tedious way. There are any number of state sponsored programs to assist you in your tuition.
A 6 day school is the recipe for disaster in so many ways.
    Good luck.

OK poked around on the FMCSA site......

The FMCSA’s Entry Level Driver Training (ELDT) is the reg that specs the 160 hour training thing.
    https://www.fmcsa.dot.gov/registration/commercial-drivers-license/entry-level-driver-training-eldt

Section 383.3 referenced on that page states that the requirements are not applicable to firefighters, plow operators, farmers and such.....
    Federal Register :: Request Access

Unless I'm wrong a person taking the 6 day course *could* get a restricted license......

Back in the real world, a person should do the 160 hour training class for maximum flexibility in employment choices.

    Sirscrapntruckalot and Lav-25 Thank this.

There is no truck driver shortage !!!
There is a serious lack of quality drivers , yes , but of CDL licensed drivers , no.
As far as pay , some are great , majority fair , and the last 30% are downright slum companies.
FYI - if you showed up with the described training at my place , you'd get a application and as soon as you returned it , it would go in the trash . Go get the required 160 hrs , actual road time for a year , then maybe.
    Good luck

6 day CDL course is more like a refresher course for a driver that hasn't worked recently.

    Lav-25 Thanks this.

Here is the thing … no company now adays would even consider hiring someone who went to a 6 day school.

    why?

Because if you get into an accident, and there is a scum sucking ambulance chasing lawyer gets into court, he will cash in on not just the company but the driver too.

but I get people thing this is 1990 again, it isn’t.

And just to add, would you want someone who has very little training on the road with you or your family around?

    Lav-25 and lual Thank this.
