Well thank you, guys. I appreciate it. I was going to use an Uber to go to Walmart, but I can't stomach paying $11 plus a tip each way when I could just take the truck.

Couple things...don't advance a load.
Don't use it for to go to maintenance or get a truck wash or oil change or fuel up. That's on duty and should be logged as line 4.
Don't have a trailer attached the day you PC, that's the biggest thing.
Other than that, it''s your personal car.
Within 10 hours of your 34, any PC time with affect the restart of your 34 clock.
Easy enough -
You can absolutely PC with a trailer as long as you’re not advancing the load. And I’m not sure what you mean about affecting your 34 since PC time is off duty.
Stringb8n and FullMetalJacket Thank this. -
And if you do have any load assigned to you, document you went from point A, to point A.
Your company might be different
IF YOU GET PULLED OVER WHILE GOING FROM POINT A TO POINT A for a ticket, or inspection, you will have to log onto line 4 onduty while being inspected. That's the law.Last edited: Apr 13, 2025

It does make a difference in the eyes of the douchebag DOT officer that pulled you over on the way to a Sat morning Wally World run.
You might be advancing a load, or having maintenance done. The stop alone requires you to go on-duty, for an inspection. -
Stringb8n, rollin coal and FullMetalJacket Thank this. -
Also, it’s difficult for me to quote your whole post when the post I quoted was edited after I made my post.
Stringb8n Thanks this. -
I'm not here to argue, and yes, that's the FMCSA law.
I'm not arguing, just saying there's a lot of grey areas using PC.
It should be better clarified, like a lot of laws. I'm not writing a letter to DOT about it.Stringb8n Thanks this.
