God bless every American and their families! God bless the U.S.A.!
The absolute sheer driving force of our national economy - without truck drivers, our entire national economy would come to an absolute standstill - if not outright be dead.
Over the mountains, through the woods, into the valleys, coast to coast, from sea to shining sea - truck drivers can and do go anywhere and everywhere, every day, every night, all year round. -
I had the sleep apnea thing for a little while. You do not need any test to tell if you got it, I remember waking up at night gasping for breath over and over. So that got me to change my diet. With a little research on youtube I changed overnight from the standard american diet to cooking my own food, mostly beef and a few other animal products. It ended up with me cutting out most of my carbohydrates and went heavy on fat and protein. The sleep apnea completely disappeared after just a month along with every other health problem I was having later on that first year. Went from wearing 38 inch jeans down to 32.
Luckily the sleep apnea was short lived enough to never get detected on any of my dot physicals.born&raisedintheusa Thanks this. -
I went once to this place where I didnt even see a doctor. Was an LPN, and her first time doing it on top of it. Does a few things, and left the room. Came back, did a few more things and left the room. Ect. My neck measured 15.5". That, the fact that I was 65 at the time, and my weight was 280. Put me down as a BMI of 40+ (it wasnt - Im 6-1) and said I had to go to THEIR sleep clinic. I dont have sleep apnea. When I go to sleep, I wake up in exactly the position I went to sleep in.
Went to a chiropractor. Walked out with my 2 year card. Those clinics that have their own sleep clinic will 90% of the time want you to get a sleep study. Shocking I know...
If you think you HAVE to use a company assigned clinic, you really dont. You just have to PAY for it if you dont go to them. Its like 50-100 bucks. Once you are on that machine, it is IMPOSSIBLE to get it off your license. Pay the extra, tell the company you went to YOUR doctor and give them the paperwork.larry_minn Thanks this. -

I was just fishing around and someone how Knight Transportation calls me. I’m like ok, I need to entertain this. So apparently they’re still trying to do the entire need to see our DR. You need to get a sleep apnea test, and if you have it we don’t pay for the test or the machine. Ya ok, next! I literally just got my physical 5 days ago for 2 years. I’m not playing that type of BS. Can’t believe company’s are still pushing that ####.
Accidental Trucker, born&raisedintheusa and Flat Earth Trucker Thank this. -
Passing a sleep apnea test is possible they measure how many times someone stops breathing for 10 seconds or more.
1-4 times per hour is normal and no sleep apnea and like 25+ times per hour is severe sleep apnea.
Just for example say some stop breathing 25 time per hour at 10 seconds. That’s 250 seconds per hour of not breathing. 250/60 seconds is 4 minutes per hour of not breathing. If someone sleeps 7 hours that’s 4 minutes x7 hours. Is 28 minutes of not breathing per night. Anyone should trying holding your breath for 28 minutes and see how you feel.
I’m not saying everyone has sleep apnea but if someone does you might it want to get it fixed or lose weight
Just recording yourself sleeping can help tell if someone has it. People can get blood oxygen sensor that go on finger Check your blood oxygen levels in the morning should be like 97 or 98%. If Someone has crazy dreams like you going to die and you wake up. That’s possible sleep apnea. If you can only sleep on your side to get good nights sleep that’s another possible sign of sleep apneaborn&raisedintheusa and Flat Earth Trucker Thank this. -
So glad my insurance carrier changed before sleep apnea machines got started. I sleep till someone moves around. *except wife she can get up, come back to bed I sleep*. Dog comes in bedroom? I am awake. Dog not allowed in bedroom. but has come in when she is scared, or needs to go out NOW.born&raisedintheusa and Flat Earth Trucker Thank this.
