When they ran the Jersey barrier all the way down the edge it really took the thrill out of that hill.

113k. It was only going from Grangeville ID to Missoula and it was about 4 in the afternoon so I cleaned up everything they had ready to go.

During the summers in high school (looooong time ago) I worked and lived with a farmer/ rancher right at the top of that grade, 5 miles from Grangeville. His place sat below the highway just as you came out of the trees.

 

At first I was thinking the place where the hill is always sliding but that’s farther than 5 miles from town.
