I used to have “the IH guy” hauling for me a couple loads a year. In his 80s, drove IH truck, with IH tractor decals. He loved international Harvester stuff. Iirc 79 years young. Darn good driver. Always happy when you see him.
But while it’s getting closer every day. I would hesitate having an average 82 yr old driving even my short under 70 mile round trip, no work loads. *ok a minute with push broom* So if you can get in, out of truck. You could do it.
Old Guy may want to drive again

UP North:I had a friend that did that job
But he was based out East. Obviously most of that work begins at the factories. There may be some inter dealer moves. In today's economy might not be much. Thanks anywayLast edited: Apr 30, 2025

Too stressful. Night driving on 2 lane roads was difficult. I drive a 42 ft
Motorhome towing a full size pickup. Not the same as a tractor trailer. But still requires you to be aware of all the ills of the road. Maybe I will just stay home -

You're 82 years old and want to continue trucking, I'm honestly impressed. Most people I know in their 80s are basically zombies walking.
Wishing you best of luck with your job search! -
Thanks. I do ok. I do lack strength but am working on that. It seems the job market has become worse. All kinds of immigrant O/O looking for drivers. No thanks. I was happy being retired until we were coming back from Mexico in our motorhome. I was fueling at a big T/A and seeing all the trucks brought back memories. Maybe it is best to leave it as a memory!
Numb Thanks this. -
