Ive never tried to poach anyone before. We have 2 US cryo guys doing work for us, I guess going into June. Both are from Houston and were claiming how grateful they were to have work as the year has been pretty dry for them. I mentioned to both that Linde has several plants and terminals in and around Houston and all the big players are there, if they wanted to work for the source and not get scraps. Both looked wide eyed at me and asked several questions about cryo in Houston and I answered the best I could. But then I thought about Protocol. Was I being rude in suggesting they come to one of the big 3 instead of being 3rd party? I wasn't thinking like I was trying to recruit them for a bonus or something. I was just interesting in them having more work and being home. Basically theyre 3rd party call and demand , but not making anywhere near what our guys do.
Rugerfan, viper822004, rollin coal and 2 others Thank this. -
Given the circumstances (now, & later) in the cryo sector....I don't think you were "poaching" anyone.
I'm not fully convinced that the private carriers have enough extra work to bring on more drivers.
The job market in cryo is amazingly dry right now....

I've ready through entire thread once before and may have forgotten if it has already been mentioned. What OTR Cryo positions are available? I'd like to live in truck and not have to pay rent or mortgage for some time.
Friend, scythe08 and viper822004 Thank this. -
AP has a 3 wk deal. But thats it private cryo is nothing like OTR companies. No taking truck home, no passengers unless they work for the company. No living on the road for months.scythe08 and viper822004 Thank this.

Linde services inc.
They do projects all over the country.
Sometimes working in one place for a month plus.
Good money if you can deal with the down time.
Whether it's catching a 34 or maybe personal don't work weekends.
We have a half dozen guys up from the gulf coast,Houston to Louisiana, working a refinery turn around that have been up for the last couple months the now..
They sure are happy that winters over but don't understand why we think 85 is hot..lolscythe08, IH Truck Guy and viper822004 Thank this. -
It's thunder dome out here. No loyalty so they will go where they can. And we don't take just anyone. What with an extensive background and federal check if anyone who applied gave up a job before being formally being offered a position probably doesn't possess the skills needed to make cryo.
I say you didn't do anything wrong or violate any kind of protocol telling folks how to move up the ladder.Oldman83, scythe08, Rugerfan and 1 other person Thank this. -
You did them a favor. If nothing else they'll be thinking about all the money and benefits they're leaving on the table never mind working for scraps as an outsider.scythe08 and viper822004 Thank this.

I do this all the time!! I always try to help fellow drivers because I know they're not making as much as the private carriers. But most of the time they look at me like I am crazy and that theyrebthe ones making the big bucks. Lol.scythe08 Thanks this.

What I'm asking is, what cryo companies have sleeper-berth trucks/sleeper positions? And yes, I would like to live in the truck...can't do that in a day cab...Friend and viper822004 Thank this.
