On a job in Joliet, Illinois some years ago replacing the drive motors for a csx bridge, they were 480 volt. Owners brother in law grabbed his widow maker he was so proud of and checked the power wires going into the control panel on top of the bridge… yep, power is off it didn’t light up.

I walked the stairs down 127’ to the ground and got my volt meter, when I checked the panel it was hot with 480 volts! He checked it again with his widow maker and once again it read no power, didn’t light up which would indicate power on.

After that he wasn’t so proud of his new toy he carried in his shirt pocket….

Working away at sheeting in my workshop the other night. Had to pop out the 120 outlet to get the sheet right around the box. #### it, I'll do it live. The box in the wall was plastic so whatever, it's not going to arc or anything and I wasn't taking any of the wires off the outlet. Grabbed the outlet to pull it out of the box and got that nice tingley feeling halfway up my forearm. I guess I was touching hot and neutral at the same time.

 

Is all I got handy.

 

Guess I’ll give these 2 girls a lift….
