What is the point of the post trip inspection if you have to inspect again before the next trip?

You do not need to check everything twice, if you look over things well on your post trip, just worry about things that can change overnight. Take 1 minute when you wake up, make sure your lights still work, no fluids are leaking out of the truck, listen for air leaks, and make sure your tires arent flat. Just look and listen. This can be done very quickly

You can park it at night have still have full air pressure in your tires, but a nail in them can have them flat by morning. That is one example of things that can change despite not moving the truck. I have also had lights work when I park, and then not work after my 10.

No Doubt, part of being a trainer, I used to train I guess I covered it in the beginning, when going over the routines I use to keep a truck safe.
Not only do I believe in a pre and post trip, but also a never ending inspection, you should always be looking for a potiential problem before its a problem.

This is what passes for a "driver" anymore and these people are all around you every day on the highway. They just can't be bothered to check their equipment for issues.

If you find a problem during post-trip, it can be fixed before you go out again.

Not saying don’t get it fixed. I’m saying maybe don’t report it till pretrip. Companies seem to think it’s ok for driver to get it fixed during 10hr break. It’s not.

'Cause the headlight that was working last night , ain't working now . Just cause it worked fine then doesn't mean it will now at pre trip , or 15 feet later. FYI - replaced it already

So when I ended this morning, my headlights worked. When I pretripped just now, the drivers side is out.

Modern truck drivers. If the brakes release and goes in gear. Pretrip successful!
