Couldn't tell ya about the refrigerators, but I know some of the new trucks are 10 speeds, I don't know how many or when they switched back.

You'll see video's. Not porn, but trucking video's. You'll fill out and sign more paperwork. You'll meet the various department heads. You'll get your fuel card/phone card. You'll meet the president of the company. You'll get your truck. You'll be dispatched out at the end of the day.

The fridges are Norcool with a freezer compartment. I stock up with 2 weeks worth of food with no problem. The new trucks coming in are super 10's. You would get an automatic. The only good thing about my automatic is I'm able to drink a cup of coffee on the NJ TPK with no problem in bumper to bumper traffic.

They started switching back to the 10 speeds the last quarter of last year. I'm due for a new truck soon, I told them that as long as my 802,000 mile truck gets me across the country with out breaking down like it has, then I'll just stay in it until they take it out of the fleet.

I was supposed to go back on Monday but Mort called me today and said that the trucks aren't ready yet so I have to go up on Wednesday, I don't know what that means but, I'm happy I got my feet in the door.

That happens quite a bit. When the trucks are given to a new driver, they go through them and fix whatever needs to be done. Right now the shop is very busy, I had my truck in for some minor problems and a service when I got back from the west coast the other day and they had it overnight. Now that I'm running out to California they go over the trucks with a fine tooth comb. You'll only be set back an extra day or two.

I can imagine, when I was there the one mechanic was doing the road tests and he was telling me that it was busy and your truck was in there. He was saying that since I live in De I might get a "newer" truck but I don't know, I won't complain either way. I could try and get on a dedicated account they have here I guess, I'll find out when I talk to Mort.

hey it was great meeting you on wednesday John. after reading all the pages on here it didnt really leave that much for me to ask Mort about. I think the only thing that hasnt been asked yet is about a rider policy. i too recieved that phone call yesterday about orientation being moved to wednesday. I guess its always better to have a truck that has been fully checked out rather than a truck that was looked over. I always say good things come to those who wait. so here i sit in upstate NY waiting. Good thing i'm only 1.5 hrs away from the yard i guess. Just wanna get those miles. i'll be doing the local runs which is nice. now by local i found out, means maine to virginia. thats fine with me because it means i'm closer to home. i had ryan (mech) for my road test with one of the 2010 volvos. it drives & handles alot better than the freight shakers that i'm used to. Took me a few minutes to get used to it, but i eventually did. i think for starting off i'd rather have the older trucks anyways. they should have the major bugs worked out by now, & they are a bit bigger than the new ones. but hey, like i said it was great meeting you. I hope to meet up with you again one of these days & do a run together like you & gary have. i'll be down there on wednesday morning # 10 for my orientation. Till we meet again, drive safe & have a great weekend!!
