I don't even want to imagine what the truck stops and highways would look like if kia or hyandai built fleet trucks. Yikes.

Who wants a truck built by a trucker for truckers?? Edison Motors is attempting this with no plastic junk and you can repair is yourself hopeful. They are hand building their first couple trucks now. They don’t have a big factory yet. They are diesel electric trucks built for heavy duty off road. They are starting off slow because they want their truck to be trouble free and actually work. You can’t really get one today as average buyers buy a company to watch and see if they can do it. They are using Scania engines to run generator that powers the electric drive axles. The Scania engine don’t have DPF or EGR, just DEF I believe.
Scania also has one of their tracks in US as show truck you can test drive and see if drivers would buy them. It’s 770HP V8 and like 2,700 torque also no DPF and no EGR or VGT turbo. Just DEF and they are try to show the build quality vs US trucks and if their is any interest buying them.
Another company Revolt same thing using diesel electric trucks with Scania engines also but they are building regular OTR trucks using Peterbilt trucks so it look like regular modern truck hopefully without all the emissions troubles. -
The truck makers have had the right formula for 50 years and had it down pat. Then the oldtimers (many with no schooling at all) that engineered and invented everything good, solid, and useful died. Then the new “educated” ones came along and decided they needed to fix what wasn’t broken and then began the down fall.

2021 T-680
Axle hub seals blew 3 times-twice on one particular axle.
Transmission issues-transmission (Eaton Endurant 12-speed automated manual) hesitated to go into gear from a stop. Gear indicator would flash 2nd or 3rd gear for about 3 seconds before engaging-a few times that it hesitates the brakes would DISENGAGE before going into gear, leading to a ROLLBACK situation!
2023 T-680
Fifth wheel wouldn’t allow me to disengage from a trailer due to a loose air connection
(on the truck’s INAUGURAL RUN)
Instrument panel froze up while driving-gauges wouldn’t work-government forced PACCAR to recall the truck.
Fifth wheel dropped a trailer due to the adjustment bolt popping out on the fifth wheel
Transmission dropped out of gear while driving. Tried turning off the truck and starting up the truck again to “reboot” the transmission, didn’t work, truck towed to KW dealer.
Instrumental panel was lit up like a Christmas tree with numerous warnings (hillstart assist failure, stability control failure,ABS and traction control failure)
Again, government forced PACCAR to recall the truck.
Check engine and stop engine light came on while driving. Truck towed to dealer due to clogged DPF. Differential housing sensor was also replaced.
In both cases the trucks had less than 260K miles before problems started cropping up. -

The mirror covers and all the black, plastic trim pieces are held on by tabs. These trucks shake so bad, all the tabs fatigue and break off.
Every piece of trim, both bumper mounts, and both inner fender liners were replaced on mine, by 175K miles. 50K miles later and one of the trim pieces is broken, again. All the fairings have been pulled and the framework behind them has been threadlocked, as it was all loose. My TK APU case has been tightened numerous times. I keep a ratchet and torx in my side box, just for it. These trucks are absolute garbage.
